    AMES TRENCHING SHOVEL

I saw these on the the A.M. Leonard website and was wondering if anyone had tried one or how well it would work for digging plugs in fields or areas where a small shovel would be ok to use. You can get these in 3", 4", or 5" widths x 11" long. The handles would have to be cut down to about 40...

    is this a childs spur

Found these items on sunday in a cornfield. The only thing I can think of is a childs spur. There is still rusted iron in the area where the rowel would have been. It appears to be made of bronze or a bronze alloy. No markings I can see on the object. Is it a childs toy maybe? It isn't big...

    sunday vaquero finds

Found these two items in a cornfield while hunting with my friend deerhunter. He found a crotal bell identical to mine on saturday. They are # 7 size bells and have a nice tone to them. My other find has me kinda thinking it may be a childs spur as it is too small for an adult. There is still a...

a couple of cz5 finds from yesterday

The weather was in the mid 50's and sunny so I headed to my old picnic grove for a couple hours of hunting with my cz5. The ground was moist and easy digging and since the grove is a few acres in size and not trashy I put the 10 1/2" coil on the cz5 and hip mounted it for easier swinging and to...

Vaquero finds a few coins today

I found a few coins at the old picnic grove this afternoon. The ground was moist from the rains we had recently and targets sounded much better. I found 3 indian head pennies, 1880, 1883, and 1887. Found a 1911 V nickel, 1934 mercury dime, 1900 barber dime, a childs toy rocking horse, a 1930...

coin identified from old settlers site

After soaking the coin in olive oil and cleaning the corrosion off with a tooth pick I finally was able to identify the coin. It is a 1787 Massachusetts half cent copper.... my oldest coin found so far by almost 75 years. I don't know how the coin got in a cornfield in West Central Illinois...

    CAN YOU IDENTIFY THIS COIN?

I found this recently in a corn field. It is trashed bigtime, but there is a little detail left on it. It is bronze or copper, has a standing figure on one side and an eagle on the other side. I haven't got a definite date off of it yet. Been soaking it in olive oil to loosen the corrosion and...

    Junior G-man badge

I dug this the other day and never looked at it close. This morning I was cleaning out my digging pouch and sorting through trash when I ran across this again. Rubbing the dirt off it showed it has some writing on it. Scrubbed it up and now I'm an official Roving Operative Jr. G-Man ! This is a...

    ID NEEDED ON TAGS

I dug these tags out of the same yard and never figured out what they were for. I have read that in the early years, automobile owners were issued a tag to attach to the dash of their cars, kinda like modern license plates, but they were made of aluminum. These tags are plated brass or bronze...
