My weekend digs, with Mike and Big Fang....

The Michigan diggers invaded KY and we got into a few good spots. We spent a few hours at a CW camp and I got some bullets. Then we hit a variety of spots and I got a few good coins. Most of all it was good to see Mike and Robin again. We got to catch up on old times and had some laughs. The 2...

    A few goodies...

It looks like the goodies are older in KY but less plentiful than around NoIN. That's an 1865 two center and a cut 1775 two reale.

    Rosette with monogram....and a whatzit....

Well, both are whatzits. I've been asking around and very few have seen a rosette like this. The bullseye piece looks just like the bullseye rosettes from the CW era but it's got a peg on the back. Any ideas what it really is? They are both the same diameter as a half dollar. Thanks, Neal

Anyone ever dig a rosette like this?

Could the "T" be for Company T? or maybe the "T" is for some families last name?

    A first for me today...

Spent about 20 minutes on a little bit of sidewalk construction today. This was the only non modern dig unfortunately. First silver for the year too!

    First KY State Seal Button

If it was just a couple of decades older it would be a Confederate button. But I'm loving it anyway! I've been in KY for almost a year now and I'm hoping the next one will be one of those $400-$600 ones!!!! Neal

7.8" coil for XLT, Quantum, IDX, 6000, 5900 etc...

This is not a new coil, I bought it around 1995 when I started getting serious about detecting. I used it many, many hours. It developed a pin hole or two in the seam of the coil from heavy use and I fixed it by glueing a new coil cover on the coil. That cover has seen maybe 50 hours use so it's...

I have a power problem with one of my Explorer XS's...will Minelab still try to fix this or maybe I an just get an electronics guy to check it out...

It won't stay on very long. Must be a short or bad connection somewhere. Don't think it's the battery contacts. I've tried cleaning those and using 3 different battery packs, all the same story. If Minelab won't look at it, where's the next best place to take it? Neal

    This last month in Kentucky...

I'm glad to be back in Kentucky for many reasons but one is the CW stuff and also the several decades most towns go back in time past where I was in Northern Indiana! Here's what I got from a few trips to a camp here. I think that leaf carved into the flattened top of a pistol bullet is one of...

    More Ky. lead...

Another assortment of bullets from the Ky. camp I've been digging. There's a cool carved game piece on the right.

    More Ky. lead...

Cool carved bullet on the right. Don't know what the ring thing is, do you? Is that slug in the third row bottom modern? Neal

    Display...

From several trips to a Ky. site this month. At least 5 varieties of minnies, one French Dragoon .69, carved bullets, pistol bullets, spencer casings, 2 half dimes and a rosary ring. Stuff like this makes me extra happy that I moved to Ky. this year. I have a plan to go back to this site if the...

The Explorer was hot on wheaties yesterday...

This picture is from 2 days of digging. The first day was a homestead that turned up the Barber quarter and 2 old nickels including an 1867 with rays. Yesterday I hit an old fairgrounds and got 23 wheats, 2 mercs(1941 and 1917D), a silver Rosie, 2 Indians(1888 and 1892) and a Buck Rogers Solar...
