The adventures of BIGFANGCOINBITER and his sidekick NEALNOINIRONBRIGADE

The adventure started with a surprise permission from a groggy, frightened looking homeowner who says to us in a half asleep fashion,"yeah, go ahead". I would have bet 20 bucks that she was going to say no way! You just never know! This yard gave up a nice 2 center to me that is corrosion free...

    G2 question...

Has it been absolutely established that the G2 and the new goldbugs are exactly the same machines inside? If they both do EXACTLY the same thing then I'm going with the G2 for the rod configuration. Any Minelab Explorer users on here compared the performance coil for coil with the G2? And...

    5 Silver Day!!!

5 silvers at a local park in one day! Haven't done that for a long time. That "Boys Brigade" button is apparently from the 1900's - 1920's era. They still exist in the UK. Kindof like the Boy Scouts. The 5 cents token has a C.R. stamped on the back. Also dug 8 wheats and a little clad. Tennis...

Did well at a local park yesterday...

I was very fortunate to happen upon 2 Barber dimes yesterday(both 1913-p)! I found a hot spot in a park I'd missed before and it turned up those 2 plus 2 indians(1892 and 1896), 17 wheats. The South Bend pin has an 1896 date at the top. I'm going to need help on that one. I also hit a coin spill...

    Northern Indiana Relic Hunt...

I spent the day yesterday trying to find a few more goodies from a field I've hunted about a hundred times. That's an 1839 large cent with a hole. Not pictured are lots of pieces of lead and harness rivets. The buttons are getting smaller and smaller in this field. It seems most of the big...

Silver is over 26 x face value today!!!!

Trouble is, once you trade it for dollars you are in a losing position unless you trade it for something else of appreciating value quickly. Gasoline? Food? If you had several hundred dollars face you could think about buying some real estate as depressed as that market is! Or how about trading...

    Got to dig on Friday...

We had some decent weather here this past week so Friday I hit a local park and did pretty well. 16 wheats, 1935 mercury dime, 5 Railway transit line tokens and last but not least a 14k gold wedding band weighing in at .30 troy ounces! $210 worth of gold!!!

    Went digging yesterday...

We got 25 inches of snow in 24 hours(record)! The dogs needed to go outside so I made a path.

Just got an ID on this wreath from a pro.

He said it was the wreath to an early militia buckle(federal eagle). It was in my trash from some farm field digging I did about a month ago and I can't even be sure which farm field it was. The reason I threw it in the trash is because it is so thin and when it was covered with dirt it just...

Is this wreath the real deal or not?

It just seems so thin that I can't believe the military would use something like it. I found this about a month ago in a farm field where a mid 1800s house stood at one time. Any help would be appreciated. Neal

    My finds for 2010...

I had a lower silver count this year BUT I was very pleased to end up with 10 seated coins PLUS a Bust Quarter(1821). 92 Indians including 18 with dates in the 1860s and 1870s. 4 Large cents. The tokens were mostly from one yard. Civil War finds were from S. Carolina and Virginia(2 separate...
