Finds from last few hunts before 12/7/18

I hope everyone's holidays are and will be great. Posting a few of my recent hunts while I have some free time. A sterling Marksman badge, a Sopwith Camel missing it's upper wing, a silver ring with lots of curls cut into it, a 1979 Ferrari 308GT, a 1912 Star SE razor, a Packers Pine Tar Shampoo...

These are some finds that are fascinating to me.

I've collected these metal blobs for decades now. All my lead blobs get recycled, so all of these are other metals. The variety of colors and shapes are fascinating to me. I have artistic plans for these and more that didn't get in the picture.

    Trashy City Block Finds

Hello everyone. I haven't posted in a while because I've been slammed with work lately. This whole 'makin-a-living' thing really interferes with my fun times. Anyway, hunted a cleared city block that was obviously inhabited by some seriously trashy folks. Lots of the trash was old so I tried to...

June 9th hunt in late summer conditions. It's not summer yet!

Summer is still over a week away and Texas has been experiencing summer conditions for over a month now. The ground is like concrete. Anyway, chipped out a few relics before I about collapsed. The belt buckle is from the Chambers Belt Co. in Phoenix, Arizona. They've only been around since 1947...

    Memorial Day weekend finds. Seated!

It's already hot out there folks! Got a few hours in at a couple of spots. The 1888 Seated dime was so crusted over with sand that I could only tell that it was very thin, therefore, at least a Barber. Electrolysis helped. Still some crud on the reverse that refuses to bare the mint mark. The...

    Purpose of brass ball

Near the center of this picture is a 2" brass ball dug with the rest of these relics. Lots of crust built up on it like it's been in the ground for an extended period of time. I know it's brass because I nicked it a little when I dug it. Any ideas will be appreciated.

    Last several hunts since 4-22-18

Here's some of the finds from some hunts I've had over the last month. There's a 1907D Barber dime, 1917D Buffalo, what looks like a 1916S Buffalo, V-Nickels of 1899, 1900, and 1907, a few IHs, a Firestone Budget Plan token, a 10c token from the Snow King Baking Powder Co, a 2 1/2c token from...

Barber et cetera from last 4 hunts before 4-5-18

The last 4 hunts yielded a 1903O Barber, a musket ball that hit something hard, a gold cuff link, the printers block(can't tell what it represents), 1977 Hot Wheels truck, 1973 Lesney truck, a 10ga shotgun shell(haven't found one of those in a while), a windup toy key, a large Great Seal...

Booty from my last few hunts. Before 3-10-18

No time to post between hunts, so I'm dumping the last 4 all at once. There's 3 silver nickels, a dateless standing liberty quarter, 3 Mercury dimes, a 1934D buffalo, an 1850 2 pfennige from the German state of Hannover, 30 wheats (including a 1933D), a 1944 5 Centavos, 1944 20 Centavos, and a...

Finds from 3 sites on 12-30-17

Got out on this cold day thinking I was over the flu, but I was wrong. It came back with a vengeance. Anyway, found the cool sliver commemorative moon landing coin. The same site gave up a home-fashioned silver wedding band. No markings and the inside is rough-filed. Come to think of it, it...

Last 6 hunts, including 1876 silver

It's been a while since I've posted, but between work and home, I have no time. Anyway, the 1876CC dime was found at a location I've hunted many times and just missed it. Other notable finds are: 1919 WWI Victory Medal, 1918 '66' Display Club fob (Sherer Cabinets), silver spoon bowl, 1900 Round...

Vacation Finds from late September, before cleaning

Went to 4 different sites during vacation and scoured them with a DFX and V3. Will post additional pics once I'm able to clean some of these relics.

Finds on the border while Harvey threatened.

Had to work in Brownsville, Tx from the 21st to the 25th right when the hurricane was brewing in the gulf and nobody was sure where it would go. It never looked like it would really effect that area so I decided to stay. The weather was actually cloudy and breezy, which was a helluva lot better...

    Finds of 7-30-17

Snuck away to find a few goodies from the past. The ground was still like concrete, so stuck with bare ground sites. Found 1928D Merc, 1903 IH, 6 wheats with a 1916 & 1919, 1951 Mexican 1 Centavo, Dateless 5 Centavo, a 100 Peso from 1988, a WWII Air Corp collar disk, a Great Seal button from the...

Another Barber at my latest go-to site.

Went back to a site that's given me an IH, a V, a Buffalo, a silver quarter and 2 dimes, and a sterling ring. Found 3 more wheats including a 1930D, a 1946 20 centavo piece, a 1981 NASA big rig, a 1964 bug-making mold that brought back memories, an upper bridge to a Model T spark coil (marked...

    2 Sites: 2 Buffs, 1 V, 1 IH, 4 Silvers, Sterling Ring, et al

Had another big time hunting two of my favorite sites. It was hot and dry, but I powered through the dehydration and found a few goodies. The Buffaloes are 1914 and 1917. The V is 1903. The IH is 1898. The Wheats are 1917-1942. The Merc is 1935. The Roosevelts are 1957 and 1958. The Quarter is...

Finds from 4 different spots. Barbers at 2 of them.

The brass name plates were my favorite finds from this outing. The Velie was only made from 1908 to 1928. The Kelly-Springfield was a 4 ton truck made from 1912 to 1926. Also found a 1903-O Barber quarter and a 1909 Barber dime. The heart shoe heel is pretty cool, too. There's a 1920 Apex radio...

The ground was wet. The DFX was on fire.

Had some good rain, so I went to some spots that are normally like concrete and the digging was easy. It seemed to help the DFX operate better, too. Had a lot of fun digging lots of interesting relics. The Colt 45 Automatic pin is Sterling. The Penrod Boys Club button is from the 1920s to the...

5-13-17 hunt. Follow up to 4-29-17 hunt.

Went back to the construction site hoping to get a whole day to work this multi-block area. Turns out that between the drought and the fact that they compacted the bare dirt for paving, made for a challenging and frustrating hunt. Not many high tone targets left from a retiree detectorist that...

April 29 morning hunt. Lots of targets among square nails

Spent a morning at a construction site that was loaded with square nails and other rusty junk. Lots of old brass mixed in, so I know there's some interesting relics there to be discovered. Dug up many oil lamps. How did so many get lost? The silver ring and earring were both on the loop next to...
