    wireless headphones

Just wanted to check and see if there is anything better for the money than Rapoo-h3070 wireless headphones for MDing. They go for about $40. Any suggestions? Thx, Andy in Hillsborough, NC

    Frequency

Just for the halibut, I decided to try MDing with an old Minelab Muskateer XS that someone gave me. I usually use the Vaquero (14K) but decided to try the Muskie since it was 5 K and hunt for silver. I tried to DISC on high (8) to get rid of most iron and aluminium, I tried hunting my field...

Comparing the Vaquero and Golden uMax

Just out of curiosity, I would like people discuss the pluses and minuses of the Vaquero vs. the Golden uMax. I have a "V" but I also like tones (my BH Tracker IV). Wanted to get opinions on the pros and cons of each for coins and relic hunting. Thx, Homebre

    Dumb Luck!

Was home yesterday because I had surgery on my gums, so I decided to go for a short hunt on my property. I own 10 acres in Orange county NC but I don't hunt there much because all I have found to date was one 1968 quarter, shotgun shells and old iron. So I said what the hey (as some people...

Old Farm House Hunt in NC

Well I feel a little better about my Vaquero today. Went on a club hunt at an old farm circa 1840 and was finding a lot of iron and not much else except what I thought was junk, though not iron. Near the end of the hunt, after about 3 hours in hot and humid NC I found an army button and a 1917...

Hunting at a 1840 farm in NC--What is this?

I was hunting at an 1840 era farm and found an army button with Zell Products Corp. NYC on the back and would like to know the year or war. Also, found a the large piece of brass (handle-shaped) that I would like help identifying. Also shown are a brass hose nozzle and handle of a metal...

    Frustration!

Probably just venting here, but I have been hunting with my "V" at parks lately, and I have not been finding much but junk. I got so frustrated, I put away the "V" and used my old Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. Within a short time I found about 75 cents in clad. So this is my question, I am...

    Battery Power vs. depth

Anyone know if there is any relationship between the amount of voltage a detector uses and any other factors such as depth, DISC, etc? Just curious why some machines use 2-9volt batteries, others 1, etc. Andy from Hillsborough

    My daughters is finding silver!

Though I love going MDing with my 14 year-old daughter, I was getting bummed out recently as she was finding all the silver with the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV and I was finding zincolns and pull tabs. I know we are a team, but I was wondering what was going on--was it just luck? In the last...

    Minelab Musketeer XS

A friend of mine gave me a Minelab Musketeer. I have a Tesoro Vaquero and a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV and was wondering how the Musketeer compares to the other two (especially the "V") and would the Minelab be better in any specific situations compared to the "V". Thx, Andy from Hillsborough

    Frustrating!

I was hunting in Bentonville yesterday with a friend trying to find Civil War relics. I did find some small brass items that I haven't been able to ID and a lot of iron. He was using a White's 3000 coinmaster, and found several bullets (one real and the others brass coated and lead). the...

    Bentonville finds

I found these near the Bentonville NC battlefield and they appear to be old brass. Does anyone know what era they are from. The round one is a button. Thx, Homebre

    Location of finds.

I do not know if it is a breach of protocol, but I would appreciate it that when people post pictures of their finds, that they include at least the state or nearby city (if in the U.S.) they are in, so one could judge what might be found in the area where one hunts and the condition of some of...

    spurious signals with the Vaquero

I was hunting this weekend at my usual hunting grounds with my daughter who was using a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. I hate to say this but she found a standing liberty half dollar from 1939 right next to me! She has also found a silver ring and cross while I have only found 1 silver dime...

    Possibly naive question on pinpointing.

I have a "V" and when I pinpoint with the "red button" on the V and dig, I usually find the target either in back of or in front of what I thought was the center-point using an X pattern of pinpointing. Maybe it is just me with bifocals! Anyone else find that the target is not where you...

Finally found silver with the V!

[attachment 257474 IMG_0101.JPG][attachment 257473 IMG_0098800x424.jpg] HIt the same area I have been hitting for several months and after a good rain (coincidence?) my daughter and I found 2 wheats and the quarter and mercury dime shown here. We also found a pentagon-shaped pin with two posts...

    Headphone cord too long.

This is a stupid question probably, but I have a good set of headphones I use for my V., but the cord is too long and gets in the way. I do not want to cut it, and I have tried ties and rubber bands, but it always comes undone while out in the field. Is there a simple device that I could make...

    DISC on the V

Maybe I was mistaken, but I thought the DISC on the V wouldn't discriminate out silver until you are near MAX. Does it DISC out near gold which his below aluminium and above iron?
