    Are there no markings...Patent no. etc.??? Looks like it was turned on a lathe. Needs a reference for approx. size, length, dia., etc. Given that it is tapered makes me think it was used for "shaping or sizing" whatever it was inserted into. SWAG = used in glass making process. ???????????

    My guess...Bear claw. Too curved for tooth??? Too large for a talon??? Big cat...Mtn. Lion or Bear???

    Need advice - lost ring

    Bouncy signals usually mean "more then one target" in near proximity...as in a nail/foil/coin, etc. lying next to or near each other. Detector sees them all and is trying to ID each one, but proximity messes with accuracy.

    Do you own a pen pointer? Try stomping the ground to eliminate possible rust signals. It won't affect the rings signature. I would think the ring would have the highest signal among any others. I'm convinced you will find it. (y)
