First Hunt With The New Firmware Update V-9.11

I downloaded the new firmware and went to a place in the woods that has been very generous with old silver coins, jeweryy and relics. Now, that was 30-40 years ago. It's been pounded to death by myself and many others, that even hitting on an old rusty bottle cap was rare. So, I started on the...

The VORTEX VX-9 Has Again Pulled Out A Fantastic Amount Of Coins For August!

Here's the clad I got. Using the audio combined with the pixals shown on the horizontal bar graph makes picking up clad coins a simple task. I was hunting with zero discrimination with a single frequency of 25K. I got 4 rings in August, my best month. Those one and two dollar coins sure add...

New Feature With The New VORTEX Firmware Updates V-9.11 "Adjustable Break Point 2 Tone Mode."

Aside from many new improvements with this update, it has added a adjustable break point 2 tone mode. This is for those who like to cherry pick a target amongst trash. Thanks Garrett for even making a great metal detector even better.

Does the Jarir ATX reach a depth of one meter easily?

I think that the Treasurehound Eagleeye would also be a usefull tool, as it measures larger targets in feet instead of inches. However, I believe that it is discontinued, as is the 2500 which is needed to pair with it. A used one might be found on Ebay.

"BINGO" Got Ring #20 This Week!

Yes those are drop riffles. I started using drop riffles several years ago. When set up properly (right angle and water flow) they are capable of getting the tiniest bets of gold. They also require less water flow, allowing me to use a boat bilge pump with a lithium ion battery. I can run it for...

"BINGO" Got Ring #20 This Week!

It's been another good week using the Vortex. I'm still using the zero-disc/25-Khz set up as it will read my cheap nickel plate over steel coins, no matter how much rust they have accumulated. Ring number 20 looked like a cheap chain held together with some wire or elastic string. Not so as I...

VORTEX - A Coin Hunter's Dream. June Was My Best Month This Year!

For my clad I run it at 25K freq., zero disc and normal swing speed. The 25K give much better ID then multi-freq. Focussing on best possible ID is paramount over depth and learning the pixels readings on the graph is a great addition not seen on the Garrett line before.

My Vortex Got Ring #19 Today!

I am blessed living in Edmonton. Metal detecting and a gold producing river flowing right through the downtown. Got to keep this body moving so it doesn't seize up.:ROFLMAO:

Got Another ring Today (ring #17) As My Prospecting River Is Still On The High Side.

"I use the shovel as a cane." Too funny, as I can relate to that. I use mine to help boost myself from kneeling to standing. It's definitely a good workout for fellows like us. :)

My Vortex Got Ring #19 Today!

I was going to go prospecting today, but the weather forecast was for rain this afternoon, so I opted to go metal detecting. I hit a sports-field and pulled out a nice copper and brass belt ring, about a size 8. Some of the coins were found earlier this week. Here's the gold I got the other...

Got Another ring Today (ring #17) As My Prospecting River Is Still On The High Side.

Yes, the Air Force Base is still in Namao, Langcaster Park. It's not active at the moment. The tower in inoperative at the moment. I remember working there as a civilian many years ago. I worked on the runways, as I had the proper radio license at the time. It was required as I had been flying...

Added a touch of class to my AT Pro

Very nice! Charles was a very generous, spititual person. The world could definitely use more people like him.

The Vortex Has Been A Ring Magnet Recently. I got Ring # 18 Today And A Silver "Tinker Bell" Charm

Got out for a couple of hours today until the sun and heat pooped me out. I found ring #18 and .925 silver Tinker Bell charm. Tinker Bell is a fictional character from J. M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan.

Got Another ring Today (ring #17) As My Prospecting River Is Still On The High Side.

This post is from the last couple of hunts. Those one and two dollar coins are HOT using the Vortex brand. Going to buy a gold coin or gold nugget at the end of this year with my $$$. Kind of a nice sterling silver lady's ring. And what looked like a real quartz crystal turned out to be a...
