    Double Georgies !!:clapping:

I had seen a couple older houses being rennovated for student housing and asked the work crew for an ok to detect. One of the houses I had detected years ago and didn't produce anything. The second house apparently had the yard filled in years ago to raise the level all around. The dirt wasn't...

    Toastie Postie afterthought.

I haven't found much worth posting for a while, so I decided to post this toastie after all. About two week ago I went back to the newer field I had been hitting. I found two more IHs (1883, 1892) and a toasted large cent. Can't even make out the date. Targets are few from this field, but that...

My #2 try at the "new" field. Button expert needed !

Took a 2nd shot at my new field Friday. I had high expectations after the first time ( finding a KGII and two IHs, etc). Well, I sampled a good portion of the field and the targets were few. I was a bit disappointed until I cleaned off a military button and found that it was a British Artillery...

Tried a new field - looks good so far

I did a 2 hour sample hunt on a new field Friday to see if it had potential. So far it looks good. It used to be a farm field but now it's just a grassed field. So far: What looks to be a KGII copper (pretty warn but I'll take it), 2 IHs (1882, 1884), a couple small flats, an ox knob and a bell...

Pinpointer opinions on Garrett Pro vs Minelab Pro-find 25 ?

I've never used a pinpointer before and I'm going to purchase one. I've seen alot of positive on the Garrett Pro in the past and I'm also looking at the Minelab Pro-find. I was wondering if anyone had some feedback on which might be the better choice, and why. Thanks, Bruce

Back to the new old park - two weeks later.

I had a couple hours before the rain Friday and decided to hit the park I had tried two weeks ago (on that hunt I found 3 IHs, a '16 Buffalo, a '16 Merc and a few wheats). This try produced 4 more IHs ( 1878, 1896, 1902, 1907 ), 3 wheats ( 1917, 1918, 1926 ) and a neat token with "VICTORY BELL"...

Woods hunt - silver in the hole !! IS IT.....IS IT....?

Ever had the experience, being in the woods at an old location, getting that great type of signal and then seeing silver in the hole? Is it capped !? Is it seated !? AW, COME ON !!!! It's only a Merc !!! LOL! Don't get me wrong, any other time I'd be tickled with a silver Rosie or a Merc...

    New location shows great potential......

for a productive go to / fill in spot ! Sunday I was looking for a new spot to try for a couple hours. First luck was to run into a local realtor/developer at a new construction site. I struck up a conversation with her and SHE suggested that I email her so she could contact me when they were...

    A little Easter SILVER.

I had a couple hours Easter afternoon - temps pushing 60 in Ct but clouds closing in and rain predicted for late afternoon. I hit the area in back of an older home where I had gotten permission about a week ago. First hit was a wheat after about 3 swings; then another about a foot away. Then...

Post snow IHs and a football

Got dumped on with snow in Ct a few weeks ago and a coating again last week. Temps in the high 40's this past weekend and I was able to hit an old "go to" spot for a while Sunday. Turned up a couple deep IHs (1889, 1902) and a couple wheats. Also found a tiny football which is actually pretty...

    Again !! Double Coppers !

In my post of 1/14/13 I showed double coppers I had found on the 13th. I was hitting a wooded area I had previously detected last spring. The place has some overgrown areas and I was pushing into them with the Pro coil when I found the coppers. Yesterday I went back with my 6 in. DD coil to...

First 2013 hunts - nice colonial shoe buckle & double coppers

I got out early this year and hit the colonial site I've been working off and on since the spring. I found a few odds and ends including a 1908 IH and a 1918 dog license. The best find was a really nice and INTACT colonial shoe buckle. I've found parts before but this is the first complete one...

A bit 'o silver this weekend.

Friday and Saturday I did a couple night beach hunts. After the hurricane then the nor'easter a week later and the storm surges, I hoped to pick up some older silver coins and some rings. Well, for a number of hours work I found no rings and one ol' 1920 Merc.(plenty of clad though and enough...

    Trinkets from the cornfield.

I had to go to work Sunday but I managed to swing by the cornfield where I found the KG III copper last week. I only had a couple hours and the targets were few. I only found a few interesting targets but I had a good time anyway. I found a buffalo nickel, a wheat, a few buttons and a...

    Cornfield hunt Sunday.

I had a chance to search a large cornfield Sunday (I barely dented it!). It POURED in Ct Friday and I was afraid I might sink into the field never to be found again! Lucky the weather Sat and Sunday was dry and in the 70's and the field was great. My best find was a KG III - 1775; (may be a...

Last poke at the wooded spot - need ID from the BULLET guys

I decided to take a last shot in the wooded spot I've been working - poking a little harder into the tough spots. I found a few buttons, an IH and a bullet. The bullet is a minnie type and has four rings. It measures 1 inch long and 9/16 +/- in. wide (58 cal?) Any IDs on what particular type it...

Need opinions on OLDER Eagle button **

I find myself winding up back at the same spot I've been hitting now for a few weeks. No great shakes this time except an older style eagle button. Other finds were a Rosie, an old ringer bell and a keyway plate. Re the button: I'm thinking 1812 period? It's like a flat but slightly domed...

More "stuff" from the woods area

Back again Sunday to the woods area I've been hitting lately. It has produced well in the Colonial coin and silver category but pickins are getting slim. I know there has to be more there so I'll have to hit it again between winter and spring when the foliage is gone. This time I managed a...

SILVER day in the woods including a SPILL !

I got back to my wooded spot again that I've been hitting the last couple weeks. No Colonial coins today but the Explorer found a bunch of silver. My first coin find was a '43P War nickel that the Explorer sniffed out of some other trash. Targets are getting more scarce and I'm getting to...

Found William at my Reale spot Sunday + "whatzit"

After finding that nice 2 Reale last Sunday, I HAD to get back there first chance and poke some more. About 15 min after starting I got a nice signal near the edge of a fallen tree. Only about 2 inches down - a WILLIAM copper !! I could tell even through the dirt that it was in decent shape...
