    Thanks Fredneck. The first picture is after the final lemon juice treatment. Rinsed it repeatedly and letting it dry for a week before I renaissance wax it.

    It truly becoming the norm to dig wasted artifacts. Here is one I dug off the same site this week, the face was fractured in the same hole, could just make out part of a wing on one piece. Right or wrong I started using Renaissance wax on the better ones,

    Once in a while a good one comes along, sounded like all the other dozens of rivets and shot gun shell ends around an old home site. 21 mm so it was nice sized coat button.

    So close, so what would you do if you found one. My friend found one and lamented over what to do for 20 plus years till I found a reputable dealer to send it of for grading. There is a real good chance one could be counterfeit the dealer explained it was the most counterfeited coin starting...
