    Baloon squeeking sound

Have had new Deus for 1 week. Finding mostly pull tabs. Granted they're down there 4 to 6 inches. I'm used to the Minelab sounds. I hear sounds like the squeaky sounds of someone twisting a balloon animal, but they are always weak so i figure it's some little scrap of foil halfway to China...

    Keeping it Clean

Felt guilty after reading the section in Andy Sabisch's book about keeping your metal detector clean. So I cut the toe out of a black sock and put it over the handle and put a clear zip lock bag over the remote unit. My minelab handle looks terrible from handling it with muddy hands, so...

    Bottle and two wheats

Found the bottle laying on the ground where the rains uncovered it. Tonsiline sore throat medicine bottle. I like these, found one in a dump once so this makes my second one. Pleasing to look at but not valuable. One of the wheats was also uncovered. I got my new Deus to like they say, be...

    Old Homestead

Homestead located on piece of land we own back in the woods that I've hunted over and over. In the past I've found WPA tags, three 1930-something wheats which pretty much dates the place. I usually search the house footprint but today was hunting further out, testing out my new Deus...

    Need more information

Hello all, Have been browsing some sales sites and just about on the verge of purchasing a Deus but put it off because I'm not savvy enough to know what to buy because of the options available. There is the basic package for 799 and then three different upgrades that could include backwards...

    Finds from new Permission

Hunting a vacant small town lot. The second dig was the Indian Cent, which appears to be a 1904. One area had three newer quarters just in about the same hole. A couple skeletonized watches. No use digging the curb strip because it was graveled at one point and too much work. A lady pulled...

    Military Button

Short hunt this morning and found an Indian head penny, couldn't read the date. Cleaned it with soft bristle brush and now you can't even tell it is an Indian head. Oh well. This button looks old because the eagle is kind of scrawny looking. The shield has an A in the middle of it. Might be...

    Return ring?

So I found a pretty nice gold ring yesterday. It was near the driveway of the lot I was hunting but the property line is right at the edge of the driveway so I wasn't encroaching. I got to thinking about it and I know the owner of the house. She rents it out now, but she used to live there...

    disk with buck head

This disk is a little bigger than a half dollar. The inside circle is intact but the outside edge is irregular as if it was cut from a larger item. There are roman numerals around the head. At the bottom is letters B b O.E. but they are upside down to the deer. Anyone know what this is?

    Black Hills Gold

Found this in the grass off a driveway. Had found a few newer pennies and when the Minelab showed 12, 8, 18, I figured it was a nickel. It was only about an inch deep. When it came up shiny and round I allowed myself a little hope, but not too much because I once found a plumbing fitting...

    Did Better'n I thought

Backhoe scraped up some more dirt at the construction site and dug around some steps. I kinda think they've scraped down too far now. I found a 1939 wheat, newer nickel and a few zincs. There's a set of steps that they dug down around two feet on one side so there's not likely anything there...

Lots of noise, don't find anything

Searching a construction site where they tore down houses, half a block in size. Two house sites are trashy but I've found stuff. On one side near a side road, there are lots of orange broken bricks under the ground and the backhoe mostly uncovered them. It looks like it was an old brick...

    Fourth silver dime.

Has cooled off some so decided to do a little MD this morning. This 1946 is the fourth silver dime from this location. Other two were early 60 and a really old 1838. A piece of nice white metal coming from the ground is a beautiful sight! Makes you want more and more, though.

    Old green Hutchinson bottle

Found laying on top of the ground on a construction site i was metal detecting. It would have been possible to find it with metal detector, beings as the stopper was in it. It may have been a soda bottle.

Seated Liberty dime, Overall button, and bottle

The bottle was just laying in the dirt where the backhoe had raked it up. Hutchinson bottling company, early 1800's to 1920's Saw one just like it on E-bay for 75.00. Not saying it'd bring that, but it's in real good shape. It even has part of the stopper intact. The overall button is...

    This is nothing

compared to what others find. I find a lot of copper/brass. The wheat penny is a 1917. I thought the big thing was a suspender buckle, but then looked it up and it is a railroad luggage tag. The penny sized thing is a token that says for amusement only on one side on the other it says no...

    Two wheats and silver dime

Hunting with Minelab 705 and coiltek digger coil. Silver dime was 3 inches deep near a sidewalk. Looked nice and white coming out of the ground. The FFA pen looks like silver but it doesn't say anything on the back, and they are only three dollars online. That big letter 9 or comma shaped...

    Demolition site find

So this morning I had an early therapy session for my bum knee and decided to metal detect afterwards. It's hard because I can only bend at the waist. But anyway, I've been detecting here a few times and not found much because of all the trash and my lack of skill when it comes to finding any...

    Problem with ground balancing 705

The instruction manual says to find a clear piece of ground. If the sensitivity is up very high, I can't find a clear piece of ground. Thanks for any help. pplinker

    demolition site

So they are putting in a CVS pharmacy and three houses and an old Krogers store are being demolished. I went hunting on a couple of the old house sites today while the excavator operator was crushing lumber from the fourth house. He came down to talk and said his buddy found a 1934 dime when...
