    using bone conduction headphones with legend

    There are wired bone conduction headphones available from XP but I think they are over $50 plus you would need the headphone adapter and a ⅛" to ¼" audio jack adapter. No delay there, though. If you set your pinpointer to vibrate, you don't need to hear it, you can feel it. That's what I do...

    cover on predator shovels

    Split some ½ or ¾ inch hose and put it over the sharp edges and a split pool noodle over the handle. Cheap and easy!

    NEL Sharp Coil

    I never used one on a Garrett but I have one for the Impact that works very well. Monte did one of his nail board tests with a half dime and it did better on the Racer 2 than either of the stock out of round small coil or the round 5 inch one, both of which work very well on my Racer 2.

    First time out with the Apex

    Large iron does not read in the 1 to 30 zone, it wraps around to high VID numbers, especially in 90 plus ground balance areas. Not all coin numbers are coins and no VLF detector I know of will hit coins at 16 to 18 inches.

    Charging

    That's strange. The light comes on at first on mine too but when it goes dark a small battery icon turns on in the top left corner of the screen that stays on until I unplug the charge cord. I have version 1.11.

    There are a lot of great machines that "got left behind" in the minds of many. The mindset seems to be that newer is always better. I tend to disagree.

    Charging

    You don't have to turn it on if the charge cord is attached. The icon in the upper left corner quits flashing from empty to full and becomes solid. If the cord is disconnected, then you have to turn it on to check just like most other detectors.
