Fantastic Day At The River.....Gold, Silver, Coins & More.

It really isn't that much if I were to weigh it. Mabe 0.2 gram. Finding it is kind of like metal detecting. There are hunted out spots, spots with little gold and sometimes you find a good streak of gold. It's the "search" that is most of the fun.

Fantastic Day At The River.....Gold, Silver, Coins & More.

Yes I do. I find the odd little ball of that stuff left over from the prospectors from 100 years ago. I save it and have a small ball of it loaded with gold.

Fantastic Day At The River.....Gold, Silver, Coins & More.

Thanks! That river pretty well has it all, except you can't eat the fish due to mercury levels.

Fantastic Day At The River.....Gold, Silver, Coins & More.

Just a beautiful day to be out by a river prospecting and metal detecting. Got some gold, a nice piece of petrified wood and great finds in and near the river. Headed out this morning with both a metal detector and prospecting gear. Sunny, warm and a typical fall adventure with no more bugs...

    Garrett ADS ll

I would keep the ADS as a vintage machine and still replace the battery holder. Go and get a new entry level metal detector for your grand-daughter. They are simple to use, turn on and go, lighter, long run time with batteries. The ADS is old technology and too complicated for a five year old...

Fishing For Rings And Caught Another One At The River.

Headed out again today fishing for rings, and I snagged one again. That should make it 25 rings so far this year. More sports meallions and some coins. Warm today, possible snow flurries tomorrow. Lots of tackle from a popular fishing spot. I left a lot of sinkers in the gravel. They all read...

Got My Fourth Ring, + Jewelry + 24K Gold + Phones + Other Goodies.

I used the Vortex VX9 with the small 5 x 8 coil. A perfect fit for the river I searched, as it's just loaded with iron and other ferrous and non-ferrous material. It also gets decent depth, good separation and really bangs hard on high conductors like silver and copper. I had one of the early...

Bang! Got A Ring....Bang! Got Another (Gold) Ring-Testing My New 5" x 8" DD Vortex Ripper Searchcoil On The VORTEX VX-9

I often dream of those possibilites too! It gives you sweet dreams.:giggle:

I Got Yet Another Ring After Prospecting For Gold Today

Headed out to a different spot today to use my highbanker and get some more flour gold. This place is also a popular fishing hole. Here's all the stuff I pulled out of the river. The pennies are new. The ring is quite old and I also got an old car wash token. Here's a close-up of the better...

Bang! Got A Ring....Bang! Got Another (Gold) Ring-Testing My New 5" x 8" DD Vortex Ripper Searchcoil On The VORTEX VX-9

I think the lowest numerical number ring I got was in the middle 40's.....small gold thin ring. Most read a bit higher. There are so many factors that affect a rings reading on a detector. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a detector which would read gold with a 100% accuracy.

Bang! Got A Ring....Bang! Got Another (Gold) Ring-Testing My New 5" x 8" DD Vortex Ripper Searchcoil On The VORTEX VX-9

And what a nice welcomed serchcoil it is for my needs. I ran it with zero discrimination, multi-frquency. And it performed well. You see, I was metal detecting a river, which has a base of mixed gravels and cobles. So, I had to compete with hot rocks, minerals and multiple pieces of rusted...

Did Some River Gold Prospecting And Brought Along The Garrett Vortex. Check Out The River Relics.

I used the Viper coil. There were so many signals that I turned my iron audio down to one. I used my same set-up. Single Frequency at 25K and sensitivity just below maximum. I am going out again this week, and am going to swtch to the 5 x 8 coil, as there is so much iron junk in the river that I...

Check This Out... Jan. to July 2025 Totals - So Far Pretty Well All Found With The Vortex - VX9

Garret detectors, especially the AT Pro/Max And The Vortex are really superior to any other manufacturers in regard to reading our Canadian coinage. I twice sent a set of our coinage to Garrett going back to the days of the imaging detector lines. I think the engineers must have looked at them...

Check This Out... Jan. to July 2025 Totals - So Far Pretty Well All Found With The Vortex - VX9

The 6" x 11" viper search coil works very well. I nice compromise between the 5" x 8" and 14" x 11" Reaper coil. It gets great depth, nice accurate ID readings and is OK for working in the woods due to it's size. I might like to add that I have the 5" x 8" coil, which I haven't used yet. I am...

Back To The Woods Today With The Vortex VX-9....Pulled Out A Silver

I got a miss-match of finds in my low mineralized soil today. I ran the Vortex at zero disc, 25K and dug most signals above 60. Depending on the type of oxide on silver coins (oxidized silver under conifer trees read different then silver coins found und coniferous trees) and their depth they...
