Higher Sensitivity CAN mask targets as the detector sees too much!

Read Mike & RickND's posts below...also went over to the EX forum and they have a lively discussion on sensitivity settings. Have this fav site where I've been hunting with two of my buddies. We been over this place with Tesoro uMax, Fisher 1266x, Whites XL Pro and even Minelabs and haven't...

    XL Pro or Xterra 50

Hi All, I have an opportunity to get a used XL Pro. I'd like to ask those who have used both models to share what they think of these two detectors in terms of performance and depth for coin & relic use. My ground is mineralized and have moderate to really trashy sites. Thanks.

    Today's Relic finds

Found these with the X5 coil and Sunray X1 Probe. Site was so trashy that half of the time I was using the X1 to find the targets! Bullets, bullets & more bullets...don't know if WW2 or earlier, any ideas? [attachment 17765 Bullets2a.jpg] A broken plate piece with the words "Army...Medical...

Chart your own Target ID values (w/ 3 pics)

A coin book is useful to give you all the different coins minted - date ranges, metal content, weight, etc. [attachment 17370 coinpage.jpg] And test coins for each of the date ranges... [attachment 17371 rpcoins2.jpg] Here is the final product on spreadsheet... [attachment 17372...

What's the going price for a used XL Pro?

This seems like a fun unit. Anybody use the small coils with it? Can it be swept slow and still find stuff in trash?

    XL Pro

Sounds like a great unit with a lot of loyal following! It seems kinda late to have a new forum for a phased out detector? Where can you still buy it? Anybody have a TID chart that shows where your coins & relics will read?

    Quattro finds

Hit my fav site and dug up a lot of targets...first with the stock coil and then down to the X5 coil. Dug a lot of thin 60-70s dimes in the 8-12 reading :-) Some finds from today's dig. A boy scout pin, 3 5c 1945, one 1c 1930 and some junk jewelry. [attachment 16490 BSPpin.jpg]

1st Hunt of 2006 - Gold, Relic, Coins

Went to my fav site where I've pulled out quite a few 1940s silver. I've been over this same site for the last couple years with my Sov & other branded machines. Fired up my Quattro and tried some notch settings for coin & relic hunting. The first good target was this gold bracelet made from...

    Quattro Sensitivity while Relic Hunting

Hi All, haven't used my Quattro for sometime :-( HOW LOW A SENSITIVITY have you set your Quattro in really mineralized or trashy sites? Not talking beach but in land relic hunting. And what kind of depth did you still get on it? Know the answer would differ by location but just wanted to see...

    My Sov setup

Here is my Sov on C-Scope (CS7umd) detector shaft assembly. The armcuff is stainless. The handle & shafts are attached with heavy duty bolts. The handle can be slid up or down to where it is comfortable. This is the setup I use on the beach and during landhunts, the meter is velcro-attached to...

    Silver ring

Happy New Year to All! Hit the beach on the last day of 2005 and found this silver man's ring. Was there a good four hours on low tide and found mostly clad and bottlecaps...found the ring in the last hour :-) It came out of the ground all black and I thought it was just another junk ring. The...

Does Minelab reply to your emails?

Wrote them twice about the Quattro...no replies! Am overseas so picking up the phone is too $$$ expensive. Yes for sure this forum is too quiet. In some forums, the manufacturer/owner comes in to provide info & power tips (and yes I have Andy's book) about your detector. We need something like...

    Sov Meter problems...need help!

About a year ago I ordered some parts from Wildhere, downloaded the mod instructions and re-scaled my Sov meter from 550 to 180 on a US quarter. Now I haven't used my meter for quite sometime...tried it today and it goes no higher than 168 on my BBS1000 and 167 on my BBS800. The knob at the...

Beach techniques 102...how do you do it?

Got both a Quattro and a Sov but mainly a land hunter. The good beaches are about three hours from where I live. Know about hunting in low low tide and the wet sand being the most productive areas (as my units aren't waterproof). I also get to the beaches 2 hours before low tide and hunt till 2...

    Quattro finds another musketball...

I am done learning with the X5 coil and have moved back to the 10.5 :-) The ball was about 3-4 inches deep. This is the Quattro's 3rd musketball :-) The silver dime was found by my friend using a Sov Elite. My apologies for the blurry pic as it was taken with my cell phone camera...
