    Confused about Hi Pro

It just shows what the different settings are in the factory preset programs. There's a similar table in the manual. It's helpful to see why some things are set the way they are when you can compare them to other programs.

    *** Some Help Please !!!! ***

It does sound like you may have a coil problem. FWIW, every time I've had a target that the VDI changed after removing the plug, it has been trash (pull tab or foil, usually).

    EMI interference

A place I hunted the other day had some of the worst EMI I've seen yet. I was able to work around it by a combination of frequency offset and lowering the RX gain. The only EMI I've not been able to work around so far is electric fences. If someone comes up with a solution for those (other...

    Help II

Check your swing speed, and check your program. I've found coins at 8 inches in the stock coin and jewelry program, and they sing out just like the shallow ones. Also consider the area you're hunting. There is one place I hunt that I haven't found much but clad, and rarely deeper than four...

    The gold ring thing

I've seen plenty of pull tabs that make perfect graphs, have rock steady VDI, and don't break up at all. Only way to know for sure is to dig. Pull tabs do tend to run with a VDI in the 20s and 30s. I've seen several in the high teens and some in the 40's, but most are 20's and 30's. I have...

    Help!

Keep at it, shep10. I just got started a few months ago myself, and found nothing but clad and trash for a while. But I'm slowly learning to find older and deeper stuff (including a couple of buffalo nickels, a silver spoon from 1913, and some camp lead from the civil war). The biggest keys...

    v3 nickel id

I second (or third) that notion. I also notice that nickels are consistently 19. So far, anything lower tends to be foil, anything higher tends to be a pulltab. I found a nice 1926 buffalo nickel in one of the local parks just a couple of days ago. :)

    Computer program for V3

Unless the source of the EMI is an electric fence. :(

    Needed software change

If I'm, using Deep Silver, I search in single frequency, but then flip to three frequency for analyze, so I get a better idea of what kind of metal is under the coil. It would be nice if there were an option to do that automatically, but having to hit a couple of keys is no big deal.

    Death song?

    That's marvelous. :-)

Can a New bee learn to use a V3?

Many will say no, that it's too complicated, but personally I'd say go for it. If you just learn to ground balance it and stay with the stock programs, you can find all kinds of things without having to constantly make adjustments. The only thing that might need tweaking fairly often is the RX...

What have you found with the Vision/V3......See lots of questions

I was too stunned to post a response. That's a LOT of quarters.

Turning an alkaline pack into a 2500 mAH NiMH pack

I performed this modification last night, and it works great! Charges right up in the standard charger, shuts off right at 11V. And now when the time comes, the cells can be easily replaced. THANK YOU for this writeup!! :detecting:

    EMI ?

It doesn't even have to be an arc or a gap. A pulsed electric fence will drive the V3 nuts, even if it is quite a good distance away.

    Analyze continues to amaze me

I hear ya -- I searched an old swimming hole the other day that had a bunch of those things lying around. (I only found one piece of costume jewelry and three coins there, too, which made it all the more frustrating. I was told by one of the people who used to swim there that he wasn't...

    Analyze continues to amaze me

I'm still doing a lot of "dig it just to be sure", but I've dug plenty of pulltabs and bottle caps that had beautiful analyze screens.

    Pulltabs

That depends on what settings you're using. They pretty consistently VDI low (high teens or low twenties), so if you're rejecting low VDI numbers, then yes, they'll be rejected. If you're accepting low numbers, then naturally, they will be accepted. You can use the frequency response to help...

Spectra V3 Microprocessor Sales to US Blocked by ITC Order?

Why would you want to overclock your metal detector? Trying to get up to that 96" per second swing speed?

Spectra V3 Microprocessor Sales to US Blocked by ITC Order?

I'm not even sure they're affected. The order was very specific as to the type of processor packaging which was affected: I don't know if the processor used in the V3 uses an affected packaging type, whether it's one of the excepted types, or some other packaging entirely. And even if it...
