What I see in my mind's eye.....

So much snow lately and more coming down. Took a macro of my eye and another photo of a sunset at the ocean I took and combined them.

    Old truck in the woods

Ran it through a filter to make it look a bit like a water color

Found this in a stream while metal detecting....not sure if it's a sundial or clock

Interesting that the number 4 is IIII instead of IV. I looked it up and I guess that's the way it's sometimes done.

While detecting in the water a few years ago, shot this...

I had a Sony dsc w70 waterproof camera at the time.

One of my fav's found with mxt 300 years ago

Not in the best condition but ya know...George Washington could've had this in his pocket!....not likely but.....

Favorite coin I dug years ago

A one reale I believe. Found in a local park where I've found other old coins. And photographed in a more dramatic fashion.....

Did you ever try focus stacking?

It's fun to try. If you're not getting enough depth of field from your camera in certain circumstances, try putting it on a tripod and taking maybe around 10 shots of the subject but each time focusing on a different area of it. Then combine or "stack" the shots in a program such as photoshop...

Another way of utilizing an old artifact....

This was an 1800's bottle, I think it was some sort of wine or possibly medicine....bitterquelle...not sure, but I took it to work and cut off the top and polished the edge and now I use it to drink out of. I soaked it in bleach first of course!

Clay marbles I've dug....photoshopped into a star scene

They just reminded me of planets. The large one is a macro of one I took with a reversed old lens and the rest are the 35mm manual lens. Used a flashlight for the lighting and added some stars from another photo.

1800's Ink Bottle made into candle

I dug this 1800's bottle in Maine years ago and added a cork, glass tube, and a glass fiber wick to make a little oil lamp out of it.

    Stars and Clouds

Taken with 35mm manual lens. Clouds were passing over at the time that I could barely see.

    Pinpointing with the DD Coil

If the target is fairly shallow I can pick it up right at the tip of the coil and also all along the coil but any deeper and it's always in the center where the shaft attaches.

    6 x 10 coil for v3

Also, last night I tried the tx boost and a curious thing happened....it won't pick up my wedding band...with it off it picks it up about 8" away.....apparently frequencies are changing with this coil with tx boost on!

    V3 Loops, and Recommended Gains

Me too.....at first it gave 8 then on both my coils it always gives 3, and if turned up more gives a lot of falsing.

General Detecting Question.....very curious about this!

I have the v3 and have had many other detectors for 40 years....I know PI goes deep but not usually recommended for land because you need some discrimination of junk. Now...I notice that many detectorists use the 'nulling of the threshold tone' to pick up deep objects. I've never done this but...

    6 x 10 coil for v3

Been using the 6 x 10 made for v3 but rx always recommends 3. If I crank it up only a few points it starts beeping all over the place in any area I detect. Do I have a bad coil? PS....The stock coil went bad on me only after a couple of outings.

My story made it on Whites website

That was a great story! What program did you use for that hunt (if you can remember)? I was asked twice to look for rings...the first time for my landlord and I was unable to locate it (he hit it with a commercial type lawmower and it went flying way into the woods). The second time was a...

Went back to the river with the 4 x 6 coil...still finding some semi-old coins...

Actually I think it was all three! I've seen people fishing there and also many years ago people used to swim there too. I've been to this river many times without too much luck but now I found a spot that's yielding stuff. It's very rocky and with current flowing a bit difficult to work it...

Went back to the river with the 4 x 6 coil...still finding some semi-old coins...

I ordered the 6 x 10 coil v tuned...can't wait to try it. Found these tonight very quickly at the same river I've been finding similar coins. I'll be trying electrolysis on them soon. The v nickel is not to scale of course. The buffalo is 1927.
