Not much in the way of finds for the past week....

Last Tuesday I hit a small park that has produced a lot of nice coins in the past but nothing this time. Did get a small sterling pin and a silver earing that I thought was going to be a little nickel. Some bits and pieces including a watch key. Don't know what the tweezer thingy is. It has a...

Some shots from last Saturdays fishing trip...

My buddy Rich brought his 3 year old, Justin, out for his 1st time fishing. He's one happy little guy  [attachment 29458 justinfishing.jpg] We went pretty close to home. Only about a 10 minute drive to this 2 mile long hiking and biking trail. Thats Richies brother Paul with the shades...

Got my new machines today :detecting: ......

My old XLT has been doing a lot of strange things this year so I replaced that. Going to send the old one into White's to be reconditioned. Conchita is still very interested in getting started so she'll have that when it comes back. Don't know if the shaft will shorten up enough to be...

Got out for a bit today...

First stop was a park I remember watching fireworks in when I was very young. At least 1' of fill. Stayed for about 15 minutes and started heading for a pounded park. Along the way I spotted an empty lot that obviously had a house on it during the 1800's. Got permission from the next door...

    10,000 years of history.....

to last Monday's spot. Unfortunately too much of it was recent history  I spotted this site from the highway on the Friday before the long weekend. There was heavy machinery scraping off the topsoil in preparation for a new shopping mall. We don't have enough of those in Canada yet...

Went bullet digging for a few hours on Monday....

I'd already hit this spot several times but hadn't for about a year and a half. Someone with an 1859 .58 caliber Enfield had been target shooting here many years ago. This rifle saw heavy use during the US Civil War. The bullets used at this spot are unusual in that they are numbered inside and...

Went out and got scorched today  ......

Went back to the field I got rained out on last week. Only had a chance to go one way on my grid last time. Went the other way today. Got a few goodies but not a lot. An 1830 farthing. Unfortunatley farm machinery got to it before I did, scraped up Georgies face pretty good. [attachment 26640...

What a couple of years ....

of freezing, thawing and ploughing can do never ceases to amaze me! Went to a spot today that I had'nt done since Dean from Whitbey and I hit it for about an hour in the very early and way to cold spring of 2004. We didn't get anything. About three years ago an Explorer wielding friend of mine...

Man! I've been having lousy luck with the weather lately...

Seems every time I have a day off the temps plummet and it rains all day. Thursday it was 72 F. and sunny, today its 47, foggy and raining. Oh well, 2 more weeks and things will be back to normal! Had to go detecting this morning despite the rain and cold but my old XLT suffered for it. About 4...

Kind of a crappie day Friday but....

we went crappie fishing anyway. With 42 degrees, a strong northeast wind and off and on rain the weather was too crappy even for the crappie. Did manage to catch a few along with some bullheads. Got some nice pictures in a quite, wet sort of way. Conchita & Andrew on a small pier. [attachment...

    This is an interesting story....

According to the amnesty project it didn't even have to be turned in and I wouldn't have anyway. http://www.hamiltonspectator.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=hamilton/Layout/Article_PrintFriendly&c=Article&cid=1144273818510

Went back to my silverless house site yesterday....

Not as muddy now. The ground has thawed so the rain can drain away  Last time I posted about this spot Vern mentioned that there is a lot of old stuff in the ground up here. The property owner had told me it was a large house but yesterday I got a few more details. Apparently this place...

    Yesterdays hunt...

We've had some warm but very wet weather here lately and I went out to one of my fields. The top 5" of soil is thawed but still frozen after that so all the rain has nowhere to go. Like trying to walk in 5" of oatmeal  There's still a lot of brass, lead, copper and pewter in this field...

    Very Blond Morning....

One of my jobs each morning is to wash the stairs in the office building. I do this between 5:15 and 5:30. This morning I was about 1/3 of the way down on the last flight when one of the doctors opened the door at the bottom. She had come in early but uses the stairs for a little morning...

If you had one day to detect.....

anywhere in the world, where would it be? Whether its an old battlefield, a beach, or even a park. No restrictions and no cost considerations. Where would your dream spot be? Had a hard time deciding myself but Lundy's Lane won out. This battle took place on an area about the size of a football...
