I am becoming a Garret dealer

well............Security detectors, anyways. Got the application from the Garrett rep, as I engineer fire and security systems for schools and medical buildings. Since the VT killings, we have received many requests for lockdown abilities and areas of security concerns in auditoriums. After I...

    My first beach trip

This will be my first time to try my CXIII and the 250 at the beach. We will be on the coast of upper Virginia and Maryland, traveling through the fishing villages and beach areas up the coast. It will be interesting to see how close I can get to the water before the detector starts screaming.

    MD AM mode is deeper?

I started this from a comment made in another thread. The comment was on the Ace 250. It goes deeper in the All Mettal mode. So correct me if I'm wrong. My CXIII has a true all metal mode, and my understanding is that because the discrimination circuitry is not active, the unit is only using 1...

    Question on Garrett detectors

I have the CXIII, it is about 15 years old. Is it advisable to send back to Garrett to get it adjusted? I am not familiar with this and just wanted some input. It says it's microprocessor based and I didn't think there were any adjustments. Thanks, Dan

    Questionable sales call

There is a CXIII for sale on ebay: Garrett MH CXIII The story tells how a housewife is trying to sell it while hubby is away on business. But if you look at the pictures, the reflection in the face of the control shows a man taking the pictures. Seems like a lot more than sales goes on while...

    Help with a coil issue

The old review on my CXIII says it can use the 3x7 and 5x10 DD coils. I contacted Garrett and Melinda says: Hi Dan, The Gold Stinger coils will work on your CX III because the connector is the same, however, the factory does not recommend interchanging the coils because the frequencies are...

250 depth? Boy was I wrong.

We went over to our son's today for Easter dinner. I had the 250 in the back of the car (where it stays until my wife hunts with me), so I put the sniper coil on (for the second time) and figure I would give a whirl at this old home inherited from his grandfather. I first searched the sides of...

    Oh, BTW........Hi

I started posting without an introduction. Name's Dan, and I live in the mountains of Tennessee. Am 57 years old and own a Master Hunter CXIII and an Ace 250. Both with sniper coils also. My wife goes MDing with me half the time. We detect old home areas (with permission) and local fields in SW...

    An observation of the CXIII

I posted this on another website with one response, thought I would share it here: It seems to me that metal detectors have not improved that much over the last 10-15 years. Lighter maybe and a few bells and whistles, but none the less still accurate and able to detect the same. Here are some...
