    Church yard finds..

Today I hunted a church yard for a couple of hours and dug a nice bunch of change along with a few odds and ends. I was using one of my favorite coils the 8" DD Excelerator search coil. Its a great coil for working light to moderator trashy areas and out in the open areas. It gets good depth...

    Todays school yard finds.

Today I hunted a middle school near my home. Although the weather was nice the ground is beginning to freeze. I had to pass up 4 or 5 quarters because the ground was frozen. As long as I stayed away from the shade the digging was fine. Thanks for looking. HH Dennis in Idaho

White's detectors used around the world

I was reading December's issue of National Geographic and come across this photo of an Arab looter holding his White's detector which he uses to loot archeology sites in the West Bank. I thought you might enjoy seeing the photo. HH Dennis in Idaho

    Todays hunt

I hunted a small area that I had hunted yesterday and did not fair well, but I did pick up another wheatie, for a total of 6 out of that spot. I also dug a 1988 Canadian dollar that I think they call a "Looney". I have never dug one before so it was a cool find. Thanks for looking. HH Dennis in...

    1 hour hunt today..

It rained all morning, and around noon it stopped and the sun came out so decided to drive around town and look for a spot to hunt. I was driving by a park and saw that Parks and Recreation workers had removed some sod to redo and area in the park. I hunted in the mud for about an hour and...

Called Whites today and ordered a new S Shaft.

I contacted Whites today and talked about my S shaft breaking on my MXT. They had never heard of one breaking until now. All thought they were very sympathetic they did not offer to replace it, which is ok as it was way past its warranty. You all may want to check your S shaft and look for any...

    My MXT Crashed and Burned.

I was having a great hunt today picking up a nice bunch of clad and some odds and ends, that is until the S shaft broke completely off just in front of the handle. In all my years of detecting I have never had one break that is until now. It just snapped off without any warning. I take good care...

Well the weather in Idaho is still holding.

Just a little ice on the windshields this morning but the day turned out pretty nice. I hunted a couple of ball parks today using my MXT/10x12 SEF coil. I found the usual clad, but not a lot. I scored a 14K gold band which was down about 5 or 6 inches. It read as a pull tab. (love those golden...

10x12 SEF Excelerator scores double silver

I hunted a old school today using my 10x12 SEF again. I hunted for a couple of hours when I got a strange signal reading penny dime VDI 81-82 and then it would read 25 cents with a VDI 91-92. I walked around the target and swung the coil again. Same reading showing a depth of 6 inches. I dug...

    10x12 SEF Excelerator scores gold

I started my hunt a little to early today because I found the ground was a little frozen and the digging was somewhat difficult especially in the shade of a tree and I was hunting a park with lots of trees. I will hunt later in the day from now on and let the sun warm things up. Its getting that...

    Church yard finds

This morning I went back to hunt a church yard I hunted the other day. Using my MXT/ 10x12 SEF coil, I hunted the same area as before but I worked it from a different direction and I picked up a little clad, a ring made in India, don't know what it is made of, but I think its junk and a 1988...

    Todays finds

Today I was given permission to detect the lawn at a local church. I just hunted one side of the church, but I was able to pick up some clad, a junk ring and a Cub Scout scarf slide, the third one I have found this week. I think the MXT/10x12 SEF did quite well today. HH Dennis in Idaho

There is a story that goes with the screwdriver...

Today I decided to hunt a series of soccer fields at a local school. When I got there I saw another guy detecting over on the other side of the fields. Mind you this is a huge sports field with enough area for 20 or so guys to detect without bumping into each other. During my hunt I noticed...

    Another short hunt turns up

two foreign coins. I don't know where the coin with the hole in it comes from, but I suspect China. The other coin is from south of the border. I hunted in some chips today and found them damp from a few recent rain storms. I found that down about 4 inches the chips were frosty or frozen. It...

    Last two hunts

I took a break from metal detecting to do some Steelhead fishing and when I go home I expected to get back to metal detecting, but my wife had a list of Honey do's from hell that she wanted done before the snow flys, which is just around the corner. This week I was able to slip away to do a...

    Two ring hunt...

I had not planned on metal detecting today as I had a lot of things to do, one of which was going to the VA to get my flew shot. After getting my shot I was driving by a church ball park that I have hunted a few times before and said to myself, what the heck the weather could not be better, so I...

    Todays finds

I have not posted for awhile as I have been steelhead fishing and when I got back home my wife had so many honey do's I haven't had much of a chance to get out for a hunt, but today was the day. I put my 6" DD Excelerator coil on and off I went. I picked up the usual clad including a gold...

    Finds from last two hunts

I have still been using my 10x12 SEF Excelerator coil and it has proven to be a great coil for coinshooting. The Ike dollar was a suprise. I found it in some tall grass next to a playground. I'm sure some youngster took it to the park to show their friends and then lost it. I have used this coil...

    Still swinging the Butterfly coil

and loven it. I have been using the S.E.F. 10x12 coil for awhile now and have used it all over the place. No it does not do trash, but out in the open it covers alot ground and misses very little. This clad is from my last few hunts. The heat around here does not let you hunt for very long...
