    Another First!!! :yo:

My goal lately has been to find my first CW eagle button, mission accomplished!!! It still has a decent amount of the gold gilt on it, but the face is crushed a little, but I don't care, I think it's gorgeous!! I also pulled out my first .69 cal 3-ringer that isn't all chewed up, massive hunks...

    Carved Lead

Found my first carved lead piece. Any ideas what it might have been? Kinda shaped like a trigger.

    Another hunt, another silver!!!! :bouncy:

Hunted a local park today, didn't find a whole lot there, so we went to a private yard where lots of civil war relics have been pulled, pretty heavily pounded. I did pretty decent, one .44 colt pistol bullet, one really cool piece of carved lead, not sure what it was supposed to be, kinda looks...

    First Silver Coin of 2011!!

Pulled my second ever Barber dime, a 1911 D, woohoo!! Also pulled out a MO tax token, pretty decent shape, they usually come out of the ground pretty corroded. This last week and a half has been the most productive days of my first year hunting, love this hobby!! Thanks for lookin, HH!

    My precious....

Holy Guacamole Bat Man!! Peep this!! What!?!?! I still can't believe it, I thought I was having a good night when I found a fired/maybe chewed round ball. On my way back to my car I pull out a pull-tab, then I get a very similar signal, just a tad better, so I dug it...saying to myself...

    New CW finds :wiggle:

Did a short little hunt last night, started raining a little, but I just put a small towel over my box n kept on teckin. Glad I did! Found a mangled, fired bullet, can't tell for sure what it is, but it's about the mass of a 3-ringer and I can see that it has a solid base, might be a ringtail...

    Sword hilt?

Found this little ?sword hilt? at a site I've been pulling CW lead from. Any ideas if this is some type of CW insignia? It's very thin and fragile, it split as I picked it up, brass maybe. Thanks for any suggestions!

First few hunts of new year

No one seems to post their pictures very often on the BH forum, I know I love looking at others pictures, so here are some pics of finds from my last few hunts. On the most recent moonlight hunt, I found a fired 3-ringer, a wheatie, a foil milk bottle top, one love letter, and a MO tax token...

    Last 2 hunts

Picked up my first .69 cal three ringer!! It's amazing how big they are, even compared to the .54 cal. It's was real shallow in a rocky path, that's why it's all chewed up, but I think it's awesome just the same. Also found this sweet button the night before, it says "spectemur agendo"...

    Recent finds

After a year of having the machine, I'm finally getting a handle on picking out the deeper signals. Had a good past couple of weeks with the bounty hunter. Found my first Barber dime, and my first three ringers, also a couple other civil war era bullets. The pic of the 3-ringer and musket...

    Compadre help

I'm going to test out a friends compadre tomorrow, see if I like it, and maybe get one for myself. I was wondering, what level of discrim I should set it on that would be best for coin shooting? Also, how deep can I expect to pick up coins with it? I'm used to a simple beep-beep machine, I...

    10 inch magnum coil

I have a BH Challenger that came with a 6" concentric coil, it's great for coin shooting and separating targets, but I'm hoping to get more depth out of my detector. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded to a larger coil and gotten increased depth on air tests? I have heard from some people...

    Flat button help

I am trying to date a site that I just found. I found this button there the other day, and was wondering if anyone knew what era it came from. It doesn't have a design on the front, and it is just a hair thicker than a penny, and almost the same diameter. If you can't read it, the back says...

Good way to get high quality pics of coins

Try using a scanner, pics come out much better than the macro setting on my camera. Very high detail, I can zoom all the way in on the picture and it doesn't lose any clairity. Just a thought.

Research question for those experienced hunters

Or any hunter with good information really. I couldn't find a forum dedicated to researching, so I figured I'd ask here. Most...all of the old parks in my area have been heavily hunted, and the good old coins are pretty hard to find. So I'm starting to do some research to find some sites that...

:veryangry: Caught an injun creepin in my wheat field!

It pays to get permission to hunt random old houses. Found me three wheaties, one (my oldest) a 1910, and two 1917's, then a 1900 Indian to boot, only my third IHP. I think I'm likin the X-70 so far.

Second hunt with X-70 ID help

Well, didn't find any deep coins, oldest park in town, so I'm guessin it's been worked over pretty well. Did have a couple cool finds, the buckle is nice, except the pin is really corroded, iron pin i'm guessing. And an old pin that has a picture of a Dreadnought ship on it, but the pin spells...

What kind of TID should I get from a small

brass plate on the X-terra 70? I can't find any brass at my house to test, and I'm looking for a token hidden by our MD club. I know where it's at, but I scoured the area, and no luck. Only had the X-terra 70 for two days now, so still learning. A picture of it is below. Any help would be...
