    Appropriate find for Easter Sunday

This was the best find of the day. Using V3i in modified C&J, 950 coil, Rx gain@15, disc 90,am 70. The cross is sterling and about 4" deep. everything else was common clad and a few nickels. What are the odds of finding a cross on this very special day? Sure does make one think. John London

    The snow finally melted

and by Sunday afternoon I was able to get into a project yard. The place dates from at least 1920 and maybe a bit older. A friend had worked it pretty hard for a couple of weeks and I was worried that he didn't leave me anything. Well, He left a couple of goodies. The ring is 10K with 2 small...

    Low conductors reading high--why?

Is there any chance that you're searching in a single freq. mode and have the "normalizer" un checked? I guess it's possible to go into a 3 freq pinpoint mode and back to a single freq. search mode. I never did try that, but non-normalized will make low cons read higher. Just a wild guess...

    Help with VDI

something seems to be going on with his VX3. He has also posted with pinpointing trouble. I ask again, is the VX3 new? If so, it seems prudent to call Your local dealer, or Whites service dept. They are the best and will solve your problem. John London

    Pinpoint sensitivity adjustment

The VX3 comes with the 9.5, but will run any of the V rated coils. JL

    Pinpoint sensitivity adjustment

Just for the heck of it, turn the VCO off and try a pinpoint. If you hold the coil in the air, trigger pulled, do you hear a threshold? You should have one. If no, try to increase the thold. Also turn the SAT off and try it. Is the Vx3 new? JL

    Pinpoint sensitivity adjustment

Sounds like you may be pulling the trigger a bit too close to your target. Go into your menu and un-check "Ratchet" just below VCO. Try raising your search coil well above the target, pull and hold the trigger while lowering back toward your target. If you try to pinpoint too close to your...

Small Coil , Which one is the best?

If you want a coil for trashy areas, a whites V rated 4x6 or 5.3 is your best bet. The after market coils are a crap shoot at best, some work, some don't. IMHO, they ain't worth the trouble! If you are in a mineralized area, then the 4x6 DD is what you need. For lower minerals a 5.3 is hard to...

    New V3I ordered

Search coil decisions should be based on the type of mineral environment that you hunt in. If you have low to moderate minerals, then the concentrics are probably the best choice. However, if you hunt in moderate to heavy mineralized ground, then the DD coils will perform better for you. The...

    newbee , need help

Air tests are not a good measure of any metal detectors depth!!! Trying to compare a machines capabilities in the air is a worthless waste of time! Right out of the box your V3i will out-deep and out perform most detectors on the market. There is no substitute for experience and reading your...

    Coin Spill!

Great find Blind squirrel. You mentioned a 1942 nickel. In october of 1942 the 35% silver, wartime nickel was introduced. The mint mark was large and above the dome of Monticello and the letter "P" was used for the first time. You may have found one more silver coin to add to your coin spill...

    Everybody???

Well, The forum has been dead lately. Too much heat in my part of the country. I guess others have kids starting school , etc, but I think most of us are still using the V3i's for the most part. I see some V's for sale by some forum posters and I do wonder what's going on in their world. I know...

    DFX or VX3

Without question the VX3 will and has outperformed a DFX. Your question has been answered many times on this forum and a simple search will reveal those posts. Good luck with your decision John London

    Best book?

Well horse, I'm not sure there is a best book on detector info, but there sure are a lot of good ones. Jeff Foster wrote a couple of really informative books on the MXT and DFX detectors, Charles Garrett has written volumes of super good info on detecting in general and Tesoro/ Jack Gifford's...

    Gold prospecting with V3i ?

The above posts are 100% correct, The V3i is an awesome gold machine! You haven't told us what state(s) your friend plans to prospect in. Most of the Western states where nuggets are found will have pretty severe minerals and I mean really bad. Relax! Your V3i will handle them. Work on your...

How do stratified soil layers affect ground balance?

Manual G B info was posted by Tony Orlando over a year ago on this forum. It's a pretty good post, but not for all operators. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1244617,1246124#msg-1246124 John London
