    Coils

The coil size and type are dictated by your environmental conditions. Your soil mineralization is a critical factor in choosing a coil. If your hunt area is highly mineralized, then one of the 2d type coils is your best choice. Parks and other high trash areas would require a smaller coil, such...

    Vx3:

I agree with Rob, We need to wait on posting until Carl Releases the info. Most Spectra dealers have already received a package From Whites on the Vx3. Perhaps a face to face visit with one of them will enlighten you and answer some questions. John London

    Turtles = Treasure

I was able to hit an elementary school today before it got too hot. Our temps here have been over 100 most of last week and today was no exception. My intention was to check VDI #s and sizing %s on some targets. My first target came in at 62 and 69%. It was a sterling ring shown below with...

    V3i speaker

Just go to your audio menu, scroll down to wireless HP, click then scroll down to speaker and put an X in the box(enter). Pull your trigger a few times to get back to the search screen and you should be set. Good luck and let us know. John London

    Brrrrrrrr

Amarillo, extreme NW corner. It's not unusual for us to have snow through Feb, off and on. Snow will normally last a few days to a week, but in January we can be very cold and Black Ice is much worse than any snow. Jan and Feb are the hardest to get out and treasure hunt, but we still manage a...

    A few cool finds

Nice going Ron, Some trumpet/french horn mouth pieces can be worth a bit. I have found a F H mouthpiece that is 92.5 silver and yours looks like it could be as well. Most were silver plated brass,but---- well, ya sure need to check it out. A Bach is a cut above and easily researched. Really...

Question: What to set first, second, next?

Mike, I don't know about Oregon's dirt, but in my hard as cement, dry ground, running any bottle cap reject will kill depth and general finds. I was running the 10" DD and wondering why I wasn't hitting easy coins. Turned the BC reject off and solved the problem. You might want to try different...

    Falsing issue

If you have another search coil with you, give it a try. Different coil types will handle external noise better in some cases. If you are running a 2 D, try a concentric, or a different size DD. Another possibility is that your coil connector may need to be tightened. Even slightly loose...

    Battery problem

Don't you have the secondary battery pack? You should always have backup battery's with you. If your V3 is fairly new then your dealer should give you a little help, or perhaps swap your re-chargeable pack out. Your warranty is good for two years and Whites will surely stand behind their...

VDI and BEEPS are acting funny......

Recommend turning BC reject off. In my dirt any amount of BC rej. has caused zinc cents to null or break up so badly that they are easily missed. Could be a similar problem on your beach. It's a quick fix if it helps and it sure did help me. I never use that feature now. Good Luck John London

    Ground Balance

I'm sure that your GB skills are perfect. I am still betting on a bad coil. Do you have a concentric for the V3 or a local dealer? Try a different coil and in mild ground the 9.5 might be a better choice. If your problem has just manifested itself and nothing has happened to your detector, then...

    Ground Balance

Have you eliminated your search coil? If your V3 is 13 months old, there is a possibility that your original loop has a problem. I'm guessing that you are in a southern state and have pretty bad ground. In some areas it isn't unusual for the ground to change every few feet. What kind of probe...

Spectra V3 or Gold Detector??? Prospecting for Gold???

Mike, I don't know why, but I thought you were in AZ, sorry. Now I understand a bit better about your GB troubles. I lived in Bernalillo for a while in the early'90's. I have hunted some of the residential stuff in downtown Albuquerque, but not the lava flows there. However, I have hunted the...

Spectra V3 or Gold Detector??? Prospecting for Gold???

TC, The 4x6 shooter coil is a "DD" and will work well in most soils. The "DD" coils basically are the preferred types for prospecting because they handle minerals better than concentric types. Sounds like you need to look at the ground where you plan to prospect. Check the probe/ground readings...

Spectra V3 or Gold Detector??? Prospecting for Gold???

Mike, did you take probe readings? It sure would be interesting to know what your dirt was showing. I have worked AZ in the past(not with a V) and have usually been able to balance pretty well. I'm sure you know about changing filters and off-sets and even a coil change might help? I really...

Spectra V3 or Gold Detector??? Prospecting for Gold???

Hi Mike, There were two spectras running and both balanced easily with the standard procedure--squeeze and hold the trigger and push enter while pumping. We left tracking on and speed @25. I used the D2 coil in prospecting mode , filter @10.0 high and recovery delay from 60 to 80. I just...

Spectra V3 or Gold Detector??? Prospecting for Gold???

Hi TC, I have peospected with the Vision(V3) and have no complaints at all. We ran at 9 to 12000 feet last july working creek beds and mine dumps. The V ran as smooth as silk in the Colorado minerals. I guess it depends on how much time you plan to devote to prospecting compared to other types...

    problems 5 inches plus

Chris, I agree with the Marshall, test your coins in the air. If the ID is good, then look at your analyser screen. sounds like there is something else in or near the target hole. Do you have a concentric coil? Since your soil is low minerals, a concentric coil might be a better choice. Since a...
