Took the V3 relic hunting again today

Jason, Congratulations on your finds. Your all metal program looks like it will be a winner. I wonder if you would mind identifying the different items you show. Here in the Texas panhandle, we just don't have any civil war relics to speak of. Sure, a few U S Cavalry bullets, Minnie balls and...

    *** GETTING CONCERNED NOW !!!! ***

Hi Rob, Sounds like you are dealing with frustration more than anything else. Try to relax a bit and look over your setup and local conditions. If you are using the DD coil, swap out for another coil, perhaps a 950 or super 12 will work better in your situation. Are you hearing a lot of...

    GROUND BALANCE TROUBLE???

I would suspect the search coil. A few of the DD coils had problems. Since you have a DFX, just switch coils and give it a go. Be sure the TX boost is off and run your RX gain down to 3 or 4. If it balances with the DFX coil(s) you have your answer. Good Luck John London

    coil question 6x10 or 950 ?

Several posters have asked for the PDF on coil design by Carl Moreland. I will be happy to send the report to you via e mail. Please PM me with a valid e-mail address, Hot mail doesn't seem to work with attachments. It only takes a few minutes to send the e mail if I have a good address. John London

    coil question 6x10 or 950 ?

Jim, If you can borrow a 950 from someone with a DFX, MXT, or M6, give it a try. Even non V nulled coils from those machines will work and you will see what we mean. I'll bet youre digging your fair share of those nuts and bolts at your site. With a concentric you'll see more coins than iron...

    V3 Coil, 950 or Super 12?

Congratulations on your new V3, Your gonna love it! I would go with the 950 over the super 12. The 950 will give you almost as much depth and better separation in the parks.Your 12" will work with the V3 and probably do a good job. You just won't be able to run xmit boost. Good luck and have...

    coil question 6x10 or 950 ?

I agree, The 5.3 and 9.5 concentric coils are the best for coin hunting. The DD likes iron too much and is better suited to a mineralized environment. The concentrics discriminate much better and are less susceptible to interference. I think an 8" concentric would be perfect for residential coin...

Why do I get tons of positive vdi numbers in the red and rejected?

Dave, If you have access to a 5.3 or 9.5 concentric coil, give one of them a try. The D2 coil is wonderful, but it loves iron! You will get signals constantly from iron scrap. The concentrics will not respond to the bottlecaps, iron scraps or nails like the DD's do. If ypu have a DFX, MXT,or...

Coinshooting / high trash deep coil

Thanks for the info Yazoo, I haven't tried the excellerator, but I have heard very good things about them. If I was hunting relics or gold nuggets, the DD would be the way to go, but concentrics work so much better in yards/ next to hot sidewalks. I have not tried the small Whites DD coil in a...

Coinshooting / high trash deep coil

Hi Jerry, Yes I have noticed the lack of an 8" concentric in the "E" series lineup. Perhaps Carl or Steve will address the 8" concentric issue. The 10" DD is a wonderful coil, but it has to take a back seat to the concentrics when hunting coins in residential yards. DD's love iron and con's can...

Coinshooting / high trash deep coil

John, as I said earlier, in a low mineral situation, I think the 5.3 will surprise you. We do have some minerals here and still dig 8" coins easily with the 5.3. Reading this forum shows that V3 users are making some amazing finds with the 5.3 loop. This Vision/V3 is one "Gutsy" metal detector...

Coinshooting / high trash deep coil

Hi John, Your sandy soil would seem to indicate low or no minerals. If that is the case, I would go with a concentric over the "DD". I have been using the 5.3 and 9.5 and love em both. In really heavy trash the 5.3 is probably your best bet. As for depth loss, If you really don't have a mineral...

    nickels and the V3

Nice report on nickels Wes. I went out for about an hour and a half with another Vision owner. We ran into interference problems from sodium vapor ballasts firing. It was nearly 7PM when we started. Once we re-adjusted the RX gain the problem was handled and nickels showed up. I found three in...

    The Vision and Nickels:clapping:

100% correct Wes. I went out for about an hour today and hit 3 nickels. Didn't find anything old, but did hit targets easily @ 4". 21 coins in that time. John

    Roll Call

Texas panhandle also--- Regrets??No way! We've never had so much information. Note to Steve-- I followed some of your set-up suggestions on the TDI and dug some deep Mercs and wheats in a worked to death park. Thanks for the input. John London

Has anyone taken it to hunted out site and found sliver or gold coins or rings?

Well, I did hunt a vacant lot on Tuesday. It butts up to an elementary school and has been hunted heavily. Really trashy! There is a path that school kids and adults as well use a lot. I thought That I would give the Vision a go, since we had found Wheaties there years ago, but no silver. Did I...

Vision draws a big crowd in Texas

Larry, I did meet you at Longview. I was also in the Vision/TDI seminar and did video the whole thing. Haven't looked at the DVD yet to see how the quality is, but if anyone would like to see it, I will try to up-load. Please be patient, it may take a day or two. We do have Visions in Amarillo...
