    A sad coin

This was not a find. I got it many years ago in change and just hung on to it. It's been gathering dust in a box for a long time and I just remembered it the other day. Makes a guy mad to see such a thing MrGee

Not about detecting, but I'm bored, so..

My Brother-in-law has carried an Eisenhower dollar in his pocket since they were introduced in 1971. as you can imagine, after almost 40 years in his pocket it is as near perfectly smooth as you can imagine. If he ever lost it, I feel sorry for the poor guy who finds it - he won't have the...

Short hunt = great find tonight

Went back to the park by the city pool where I found so many pennys last week. found this: That is not blemishes on the coin that you see, it's dirt fresh from the ground. It sure is pretty!

I seem to have developed a bad habit.....

....While out by myself swinging the 250 I have begun to talk to it. "So you say it's a quarter, huh? Well let's see.' "A nickle you say. You better not be lying to me.", etc. I can just imagine what an observer might be saying about that 'crazy old man with the metal detector' Be...

    Strange outing this morning

Went to the lawn around one of the elementary schools and dug 38 coins. Not one was deeper than about two inches and they were mostly from the 60's and 70's. Not one silver nor a wheatie. All clad but mostly 40 to 50 years old and all shallow. I never had anything quite like that before...

Hey Uncle willy, a question for you..

How outdated is the electronics on a Treasure Ace 200 with a Crossfire coil? Ran across one today, still in the box, looks unused for $140 but I don't know anything about it. I have this 12 year old neice who loves my 250...and she has a birthday coming up.... I know I've seen some...

Any Law Enforcement Folks on here?

One of the things that I dug up tonight is a very strange looking device and I watch "Cops" enough to strongly suspect that this is someones crack pipe. For the first time I have a 'treasure' that I want to get rid of as soon as possible. Should I toss this thing in the river, or what? MrGee

Went to a new spot this afternoon

There is an indoor public pool in town that sits in a small park. I've been eyeing the grassy area next to what used to be the kiddy pool for weeks and putting it off. Decided to give it a try tonight. In about two hours Is dug up 4 quarters, 4 dimes, 1 nickel and 58 pennys. I didn['t do a...

A Lady asked me to find her ring....

I was trying to cover a ball diamond (finished for the season, so fair game now) when a lady approached me . She lived in one of the houses that border the field on one side and she said that she lost a silver/turquois ring that had belonged to her late husband. She lost it last fall while...

Finally got the pics of the Merc

Finally got the pics of my first Merc. I know you've all found these by the box full, but this is a biggie for me. So look already! ( 1942 if you can't see the date) MrGee

Cross another goal off my list

Found a quite beautiful 1942 Mercury dime this afternoon. It was about 3 or 4 inches down in a neighbors yard, about a foot from his front sidewalk. I did the happy dance cause it's the first Merc that I've found with the detector. I'll get pics onthe way tomorrow when I have good light for...

Finally, the bracelet from the convent lawn

The first picture is the way it came out of the ground...In several pieces. The second one shows how it fits together and the third shows the detail. I went back twice and reopened that hole looking for the other two red stones, but alas, they don't seem to be there. don't know why but it...

    New place tonight

Three br ranch house probably from around 1960. It is next door to a Catholic run nursing home and they own the house as a place for the Nuns to stay when they are in town. they call it the convent. Only dug three keepers ( but not a lot of pull tabs). One was a 1951 wheat, a 1960 quarter...

Question for some of the "old timers"

I was in a park for a short time this evening and found 19 pennys. My Ace 250 with the sniper coil did not identify even one of them correctly. They were all ID's as dime or quarter. The question is: do these get "out of tune" and start misidentifying targets or is there some other...

    Local sports stadium

I while back I mentioned in a post that I hoped to get permission to detect the local sports stadium. It was opened in 1936 and there has been about 100 baseball games a year every year since then. It was also the home of the local high school football team until about 8 or 9 years ago when...

Changing the coil on my Ace

I was standing next to me car last night changing the coil on my Ace 250 and it suddenly occurred to me: If I drop this nut, how am I gonna find it? MrGee

    found a button tonight.....

......which has a (British looking) lion, rampant against a shield, with another smaller lion, rampant above it and a banner below with the motto: "Spectemur agento". From what I see on the web, it's latin and translates to "judge us by our deeds" or something like that. I;ll try to post some...

Hey one of you who have an inside track to Garrett...

On the pics of the new 350 they show a "zero mode". What the devil is a zero mode? MrGee

The IH pic I posted last week

Several people seem to be a little confused by the "penny" even though I put a quarter next to the pendant for perspective. The penny is a very good replica and it is 3/ 8 of an inch across. So, no. It's not ever going to be mistaken for a real IH. It's just a strange piece of jewelry...
