    First outing with Vortex 9…

You did good Mike. There's always a learning curve with a new detector. It appears you and the VORTEX are getting along fine!

Here's Two More Hunts Worth.....Love That 6" x 11" Coil. It's Staying Put On The Shaft.

This is pretty well one soccer field. I started at one end, and gridded the field. Most coins are closer to the goal area. Some of these coins have been in the ground for some time. Some are so very ugly with rust. I am going to soak them in vinegar at the end of the season and dissolve most of...

I Received My 6" x 11" DD Viper Vortex Coil And Took It Out For A Couple Of Hunts To Test It Out

The gold, although it looks good, is flour gold. I used my macro lens on my camera to enlarge it so you can identify it's shape.

Don’t go detecting if your very tired, get some rest and get refueled!

Got to be careful burning the midnight oil at our age. Our bodies aren't as forgiving now as they once were. I see your zinc pennies are pretty cancerous.....:ROFLMAO:

I Received My 6" x 11" DD Viper Vortex Coil And Took It Out For A Couple Of Hunts To Test It Out

I really like it. Aside from getting closer to playground equipment and tight spaces, the audio is very crisp/sharp and reminds me a lot of the old analog metal detectors. As is usually the case, smaller coils can give better ID as they don't have to deal with as much mass of material...

Here Are May's Totals.....I Have Found Enough Coins To Purchase Nearly 2 Grams Of Gold.

I am home bound today. I am waiting for some workers to show up and install a new dryer vent to the outside of my house. So I thought I'd post my finds a day earlier. I did well with the coins. Finding a drained pond and digging up many coins from people tossing coins to make a wish. Some of...

I Had My Most Productive Coin Shooting Day Yesterday Using The VX9

Roll them and pass the batch to a bank. Just in case at some point in time they refuse them.

I Had My Most Productive Coin Shooting Day Yesterday Using The VX9

I hit this particular school every 2 years. It takes about two years for the coin crops to increase to make a decent hunt. I have a couple of other schools where I use the same plan of attack.

I Had My Most Productive Coin Shooting Day Yesterday Using The VX9

Hit one school yard and stayed put all afternoon on Saturday. All the coins were in the top 1", which made it real easy to pop them out using my pin-pointer and screwdriver. It's so sad to see my coinage literally rot from rust as the nickel plating over steel starts to wear off. I heard Trump...

Hit 2 Sports Fields And Got Ring #12 For 2025 Plus A Pile Of Coins.

Both prospecting and metal detecting are very similar, in that you are always searching for something. The exercise obtained do these tasks is healthy for both body and mind.

I Used The Thin Coin Mode Today On The VX9.....It Was Like A Totally Different Machine!

US coins are so easy to identify......well except the penny. Depends whether it's zinc (or how rotted the zinc is) a recent wheat cent or an Indian head. They ID where they should, be it number, tone or icon. Well, Canadian coins are a plethora of mixed signals, depending on how much wear has...

Hit 2 Sports Fields And Got Ring #12 For 2025 Plus A Pile Of Coins.

The North Saskatchewan River in my neck of the woods was rising due to high precipitation and spring runoff in the mountains. That put a hold on gold prospecting. So, I took advantage of this and did some coin searching at some nearby sports fields. It's shaping up to be a good year for coin...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

That's good to hear, as I prospect part time. The VX9 should be a killer with the 5" x 8" coil. I just got my hands on a new highbanker a couple of weeks ago. I had a long discussion with one of the builders of highbankers in Edmonton about a new design. Well he liked it and built one. I put in...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

Garrett had always been very generous as far as donation equipment to rallies. Charlie had donated many metal detectors and accessories going back to 35 years. I used to run contests years back, and Garrett often donated coils, diggers etc. for prizes. He was a very genuine generous type of person.
