    Nice haul on the silver !! The shield actually is the bottom latch of a Carpet Bag lock. Here's one I dug complete, and hopefully you'll find the lock, it could date mid 1800's.

    If you select Max 14khz then you'll be utilizing freqs 4khz - 14khz focusing on high conductors. To narrow it down any more than that, go single freq in mono.
