    Thanksgiving hunts in west Texas.

I've always wanted to go hunting in west Texas but never got around to it until I had a few days off during Thanksgiving. I don't really recommend it since it was the most boring trip I've ever taken and there's nothing good to eat out there. The first pick is from a spot I’ve been to twice...

    World’s Fair token

I’ve tried searching for this token on line with no luck. Haven’t tried any official token books or databases. Would like to know which World’s Fair this might have been. France hosted in 1855, 1858, 1861, 1867, 1878, 1889, and 1900. Kinda looks like Napoleon III. Aluminum. Found in far west...

Found this projectile in far west Texas. Did someone just repurpose this bullet?

Just got a new rumbler for cleaning wow!

Here’s one of my secret weapons. Electric ice cream maker. Take out the stirring mechanism. Lean it over about 45deg or so. Throw in a bunch of filthy, crusty coins. Turn it on for however long you can stand it. It makes its own grit with all the dirt coming off. Rinse and dry. Good enough...

Sharp Morgan Silver Dollar and Others

Great finds and great job! I still haven't found a silver dollar. I found a Morgan belt buckle once but I don't count that. That's an odd shape for a soap coupon. I like the One Centavo coin too. What's the dome shaped button? Anything on front or back? And what's the flat thing above the...

Is this some kind of oiler?

I found this with a metal detector since the end of it is brass. It doesn't look like steam engine oilers do. It's also a lot smaller as you can tell by the penny. No text on the glass or the brass. Thanks for any input.

Found this at a site that is loaded with interesting relics. I think it may have something to do with winning awards in Vienna, Austria/ Ulm, Germany/ Stuttgart, Germany/ Philadelphia, PA. Maybe that's the only places this product was available. The last date is 1881, so I'm guessing it dates...

    Double your cents

Every Christmas, I give my 2 grandsons all my dirty clad and make them do the hard work of cleaning them. It’s usually a couple hundred $.

Silver at $50 Gold at $4000

Civil engineering, surveying, and 3D scanning. We’ve gone from 25 crews to 12 crews this year. It’s been a predictor of recessions since the 1980s. I hope it’s wrong this time.

Silver at $50 Gold at $4000

This may be good for detectorists, but high gold prices always mean something bad is happening with the economy. My workplace has seen steady decline since the beginning of this year. It worries me.

Need help with old British coin

Here’s some pics with better contrast. It looks like a feminine profile. I couldn’t tell you if it’s globe or pillars. I was hoping you could. Found it! You got me on the right track. Bad news is: It’s a fake! This is supposed to be gold, but alas, it’s brass. It must have had gold plating once...

Need help with old British coin

I found a street that was scraped down to the original soil. There were 2 layers of concrete sandwiching a layer of asphalt, then a rock base. A railroad track ran down the center of the street back when it was just a dirt road. There was still an edge of the railway ballast visible so that’s...

    Imperial name plate

No attachment points. Some kind of adhesive?

    Imperial name plate

I found this pic of a 1940s-1950s Imperial wood lathe. It’s very similar and maybe a 1920s-1930s nameplate would match.
