    Rock Identification Help

Thank you all for the replies! This has been very interesting and informative. Based off of that website, it seems pretty unlikely that this is a meteorite, but I handed it off to a friend in uni so hopefully I will have an answer soon.

    Rock Identification Help

Is there a way to identify it without cutting into it? I'd rather not damage it. I'm not sure if you saw, but it is weakly attracted to a magnet if that's significant

Unfortunately, there were no fibers to be seen. I did take a look at what you sent, and my stone doesn't look like either of them. Those stones have a distinct shape and symmetry that mine lacks, with or without the missing chunk. I don't feel or see the wear marks that you do, and it wouldn't...

    Rock Identification Help

I'm still really struggling to find this "rub" stone. I've found stones used to scrape hides and stones used to grind food but I really doubt this stone would be used for those. I found this list of the stone tools used by the indigenous people in the area, and it doesn't seem to match any...

I don't think it would be great for that, but I've never rubbed hide or ground grain so I wouldn't know. Are these stones usually...

    Rock Identification Help

Hey guys, I've had this rock for years and had always wondered what it actually was. I know that I found it by a river in Vancouver, Canada, but I don't remember the exact location. I thought it may just be a chunk of iron but the outside just looks like a normal rock. Any ideas?
