Finds for the weekend of 5/2,3/2026

That ring was an extremely lucky find. That site is loaded with modern trash over the top of a property that had 2 houses in the 1800s. A nearby church uses the lots for overflow parking. It was rainy day and when I came upon the low-tone target, I could see the circular object mashed into the...

Finds for the weekend of 5/2,3/2026

Lots of small stuff this time. I need to find some new sites. I did get the 10k ring though. It’s been a while since I found a gold ring. The 1908 token from San Antonio, Texas is a great find. Haven’t researched that one yet. The green skull bead is pretty cool too. I thought it was just...

Barber, Tokens, Modern Woodsmen Of America Pin And Others

Great job again! Does the 1912 nickel have a mint mark? You found a $5.00 token! That was a lot of merchandise back then.

Another round at the 1860’s home site

The tusk is from a wild hog.

    First military button

That’s a Great Seal button created in 1902. So your button dates 1902-1925

Last 2 bags from the Spring Break trip

This is the last 2 bags of goodies from my trip. The 1st pic has some nice green patina on a couple of brass objects. The chewed up aluminum fob seems to be from a Datsun dealership in Lafayette, La. Wheats back to the 30s. The 2nd pic is from one of my favorite sites. I always find good stuff...

I forgot about this little bag of finds from Spring Break

This spot had a small spill with 1917, 1919S, and 1933D pennies. The 1911 nickel was laying on top of the ground.

    Back to the woods

You're getting some good stuff out of there! Any date on the Standing Liberty? I love the badge!

Went back to the ballpark where I found 2 silvers

Well, sometimes you gamble and you lose. Hopefully you'll make up for it next time.

2 more bags from the Spring Break trip

Here's 2 more site's worth of stuff. The 1st pic shows a pretty good coin spill where a wheat penny is stuck to a 1943 quarter. All 3 silvers are 1943. I'm assuming the boot heel is from a large man's boot. It's way bigger than all my others. All the wheats are 40s-50s. The 2nd pic shows a...

One bag of goodies cleaned/ a doubled die coin!

Here's the first of several bags of finds from my Spring Break metal detecting trip. Maybe someone can tell me about the 3-ring projectile. The 1934 quarter just happens to be the doubled die variety/ heavy motto. I guess nobody knows how many of these were struck. I had found a normal 1934...

A few good targets during spring break.

Minelab 3030 I’ll be cleaning them this week. It’ll take a while since I have about 6 sandwich bags of stuff.

A few good targets during spring break.

Haven’t had time to clean anything yet but here’s some of them straight out of the ground. I’ll get them clean this week and post them all.

My oldest British coin found in Texas

Went to one of my favorite sites over the weekend. I always find something interesting there. I knew what it was as soon as I found it since it had that straight line over where the date should be. And they kept that same reverse for about 140 yrs. Once I fingernailed the crust away I could...

    Neat Brooch or pin

Could be some WWI trench art. Or a widow’s reminder of her lost soldier boy. There’s a story there that we’ll never know for sure. Nice unusual find!

Finds just be fore the hard freeze.

All these marbles came up with the targets. There’s no bare ground so they don’t get exposed after a rain like at some other sites.

Finds just be fore the hard freeze.

I’ve been hunting there for years, using different detectors and different settings, different weather conditions. I’ll continue to search that place til I’m no longer recovering anything interesting.

Finds just be fore the hard freeze.

The soil is shallow, on top of limestone. Using Minelab 3030 with 6” and 11” coil. Blocking out very little. Almost all-metal setting to get the big iron out.
