Finds for the weekend of 5/2,3/2026

Lots of small stuff this time. I need to find some new sites. I did get the 10k ring though. It’s been a while since I found a gold ring. The 1908 token from San Antonio, Texas is a great find. Haven’t researched that one yet. The green skull bead is pretty cool too. I thought it was just...

Last 2 bags from the Spring Break trip

This is the last 2 bags of goodies from my trip. The 1st pic has some nice green patina on a couple of brass objects. The chewed up aluminum fob seems to be from a Datsun dealership in Lafayette, La. Wheats back to the 30s. The 2nd pic is from one of my favorite sites. I always find good stuff...

I forgot about this little bag of finds from Spring Break

This spot had a small spill with 1917, 1919S, and 1933D pennies. The 1911 nickel was laying on top of the ground.

2 more bags from the Spring Break trip

Here's 2 more site's worth of stuff. The 1st pic shows a pretty good coin spill where a wheat penny is stuck to a 1943 quarter. All 3 silvers are 1943. I'm assuming the boot heel is from a large man's boot. It's way bigger than all my others. All the wheats are 40s-50s. The 2nd pic shows a...

One bag of goodies cleaned/ a doubled die coin!

Here's the first of several bags of finds from my Spring Break metal detecting trip. Maybe someone can tell me about the 3-ring projectile. The 1934 quarter just happens to be the doubled die variety/ heavy motto. I guess nobody knows how many of these were struck. I had found a normal 1934...

A few good targets during spring break.

Haven’t had time to clean anything yet but here’s some of them straight out of the ground. I’ll get them clean this week and post them all.

My oldest British coin found in Texas

Went to one of my favorite sites over the weekend. I always find something interesting there. I knew what it was as soon as I found it since it had that straight line over where the date should be. And they kept that same reverse for about 140 yrs. Once I fingernailed the crust away I could...

Finds just be fore the hard freeze.

Went to a park that had 3 houses previously. Found old stuff there in the past. Picked through the iron dumped in the far back. Found the locked end of a wooden barrel coin bank from the 1920s-1930s. No pile of coins left behind. Found a pic of what it looked like online. The aluminum badge is...

    Christmas road trip finds

I hope everyone had a great holiday. My time with the family was a happy affair with no drama. I started my trip the day after Christmas. My first stop was a site I’ve hit before with lots of buried tin cans, not aluminum. Found lots of old relics here. It’s the pic with the large toy yellow...

    Thanksgiving hunts in west Texas.

I've always wanted to go hunting in west Texas but never got around to it until I had a few days off during Thanksgiving. I don't really recommend it since it was the most boring trip I've ever taken and there's nothing good to eat out there. The first pick is from a spot I’ve been to twice...

    World’s Fair token

I’ve tried searching for this token on line with no luck. Haven’t tried any official token books or databases. Would like to know which World’s Fair this might have been. France hosted in 1855, 1858, 1861, 1867, 1878, 1889, and 1900. Kinda looks like Napoleon III. Aluminum. Found in far west...

    Strange bullet shape

Found this projectile in far west Texas. Did someone just repurpose this bullet?

Is this some kind of oiler?

I found this with a metal detector since the end of it is brass. It doesn't look like steam engine oilers do. It's also a lot smaller as you can tell by the penny. No text on the glass or the brass. Thanks for any input.

Please help ID this badge, seal, strap, or whatever.

Found this at a site that is loaded with interesting relics. I think it may have something to do with winning awards in Vienna, Austria/ Ulm, Germany/ Stuttgart, Germany/ Philadelphia, PA. Maybe that's the only places this product was available. The last date is 1881, so I'm guessing it dates...

Need help with old British coin

I found a street that was scraped down to the original soil. There were 2 layers of concrete sandwiching a layer of asphalt, then a rock base. A railroad track ran down the center of the street back when it was just a dirt road. There was still an edge of the railway ballast visible so that’s...

    Imperial name plate

I've tried to find a Chrysler/Imperial that might have had this name plate but none have looked like this. It's made of solid brass so I figured it must be pre-WWII. It could have come from some type of appliance or machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Every site is like a history lesson, if history was fun.

Today’s lesson: “The Corn Palace Folly” and “Fiberglass” In 1887, the people of Sioux City, Iowa decided to build a palace completely covered with corn and corn parts, everything corn. The first year was such a hit, they built it even bigger the following year resulting in hand-over-fist profits...

    Same site/Different detector/10yrs later

I found this site 10 yrs ago when I had a Whites DFX. That’s the 1st pic. The 2nd pic was Labor Day weekend with a Minelab 3030. This place is full of iron, but I love it because the ground is sand and easy to dig no matter the weather. I found the pulley from the water well while digging the...

    Finds up to 1-4-25

Here's more of the amazing relics I've been able to recover lately. I love the White Elephant Saloon token from Hearne, Tx. There's no town name on the Aquilina's Food Store token, but I think I have it narrowed down to Port Arthur, Tx. I also like the Uncle Henry knife and the 1926D Standing...

Finally found my first Half Dime!

When I finally sifted it out of the dirt, I thought maybe it was a toy dime. But then I saw the hole in it and thought maybe it's a silver dangle or coin. Couldn't see any details in the field. It was also slightly bent and stained. That's the first thing I cleaned when I got home and could...
