    Thanks! It's been a rough start with the wife having thyroid surgery and me trying to get brush cut at the farm Monsoons didn't help much either!

    I finally got one!

    My friend and I went out a few days ago for a short afternoon hunt of a couple of hours. I wanted to hunt an old ghost town that started around 1887 and closed around 1905. There was quite a bit of broken glass and some pottery shards which is usually a good sign that you might find something...

    Musket part

    Thanks! If it's solid brass than it is old. I recently sold a Harpers Ferry 1816 69 caliber musket that was made in 1831 and that trigger guard was steel.

    Is that made of an aluminum alloy or pot metal. Looks modern to me also. The metal looks like the type that would be on a Marlin model 60. Is that black paint or bluing?
