Gold ,silver ,and coal ? Check out these videos

Pyrite is very prevalent in coal deposits. It's the cause of acid mine drainage, not the coal itself.

Need help with rock ID and if there is anything to them

I take it you mean Silver City near Aspen? I worked in lead-zinc mine in Leadville on the other side of the mountain. Spent 7 years there. We also had gold and silver as by products and one working area did have tiny native gold globules on the zinc ore at times. Problem was we couldn't...

Gold ,silver ,and coal ? Check out these videos

I said pitchblende doesn't burn. Said nothing about the chemical you posted which is not pitchblende. Pitchblende is also called uraninite. Sorry, it can not burn. Uranium powder mentioned in your post is NOT pitchblende. Uranium powder is made from pitchblende by crushing it, leaching it...

    Help identifying please

You seem to be interested in rocks and minerals. It's a great hobby. Try looking for some rock and mineral clubs around you for more ways to enjoy this great science. They are great folks and love to help out. And most likely take field trips.

    Need help identifying odd rock

No problem and yes it is valuable as you say. The brownish mineral, and that is a mineral, looks like quartz and seems to be part of the rock. I'm sure it did not "accumulate" from moving around. So just an aside for some understanding. A mineral is "an inorganic, homogenous body of rather...

    Need help identifying odd rock

I looked up Lake County Geology and found the soils and rocks are all from glacial till meaning it is not a local rock but transported by glaciers that brought soil and rocks from Canada or gouged out the great lakes most likely Erie. Thus it's rounded shape. It's had a journey. Igneous rocks...

    Need help identifying odd rock

Where did you find it? Only thing I can say now is it looks like an Igneous rock. If you have college near you with a geology department they may be able to help. Another place would be if you have any rock and mineral clubs near you. My first reaction from two of the pictures was basalt but...

Is this Blue Lace Agate or something else?

the last pics you posted seem to look like Calcedony. As to your first pics I found this on GemSelect.com. " Some gemstones show a distinct or dramatic change in color under different light sources. Look at a garnet under electric or artificial light and it could look red, take it outside into...

Is this Blue Lace Agate or something else?

mystery to me too. I spent some time trying to find this light change in other minerals and there are very few that do it, except if using ultraviolet lights. Agate was not one of them under various white light sources. If this was some unique thing I would think the mineral collectors would...

Is this Blue Lace Agate or something else?

First off you would be better served if you move this to the Rock and Mineral Forum. Second, what is the light source for the blue? And exactly what bulb are you using that turns it yellow? Some minerals will change color depending on light source but this is a mystery to me so far.

Please help me identify this stone found in mountain in Colorado

I'm guessing aquamarine too. If fluorite I would expect to see more cleavage planes. It's a beautiful specimen if it is. Can you scratch it with a knife? If not then most probably aquamarine. If you can it's most likely fluorite.
