    Found outside Kitui, Kenya

They both look like quartz and are not quartzite. Really nice pieces. I say quartz because you can see some conchoidal fractures on the surfaces. The rainbow you see is most likely one of those fractures reflecting the light off the fracture, very common. Guy who said to hide it was...

    Odd rock

Agree, I can see one XL that seems to follow the shape of terminating hexagonal shape with just two faces showing. Not cubic.

    Rock or possibly crystal identification

That was my first thought too.

    Rock or possibly crystal identification

Pretty hard to tell with the pics. Try scratching it with a knife. If it doesn't scratch then maybe some form of silicate mineral. If they don't scratch a SWAG for the red ones could be jasper. Others could be calcedony. Jasper is a variety of calcedony. Where did you find them?

Small skull type head with crystals - a mystery - found in New Mexico

My first thought is quartz. Any softer minerals would not have survived the wear this has gone through. See if it scratches glass, if so then quartz. Use any glass like the one on your front door or table top, momma won't care. :)

    Could this be a meteorite?

I'm going to say no and here's why. The red streak test would show red for hematite but dark gray for magnetite. Also the yellow mineral looks like there is some crystalline structure and thickness too it from the reflections so it's not rust. And if a meteorite that mineral would have...

    Need help identifying this mineral

It's not a mineral it's a rock. It's called a conglomerate and doubt very much it's Kimberlite. Where did you find it and why do you think it may be Kimberlite? I ruled out concrete based on the wide variation of particle sizes and the variation of mineral components, unless it was mixed by...

    Funny Green Rock…

I do not think it's tourmaline as the crystal structure isn't right. This crystal is not triangular in cross section. Usually tourmaline has somewhat rounded faces with striations sometimes. https://geologyscience.com/minerals/tourmaline/ This specimen is hexagonal and smooth faces.

    Funny Green Rock…

It's beryl and the color says emerald. Wow. The host rock is quartz and was in a very coarse pegmatite base that broke away. That is one fine specimen.

456kg gold nugget found in Ghana whilst detecting

Smigo, I'm with you. No way two or even three (one guy looks like he only had one hand on the side of it) of these skinny guys are going to flip around a 1000 pound rock or anything like that. OK, so I searched the world famous internet for this miraculous find. Nadda. It's the best kept...

Anaconda Mining Crosses 335.0 g/t gold over 0.5 meters at the Goldboro Gold Project

Very interesting. The big question will be how to mine it and make a profit. But good numbers none the less.

Quartz arrangement gold gold lustrous substance that can be scratched off

It's a quartz crystal with what looks like oxidized iron staining. Doubt very much it's gold. if the particles break apart when crushed it's not gold. Native gold is malleable.

So while beach hunting, always getting stopped for questions about machines and detecting.

I stop and chat for a bit, especially if they are kids. I'll drop a coin or something and let them hear the signals. I once had two little kids follow me. I finally hit on something and let one of them dig it up. Luckily it was a quarter. Now the other little kid wants one too. I had a...

    Mixing various stones to tumble

My irrigation well is pretty shallow. I don't know how deep your well is. It's not common to find ammonia in drinking water wells because they are usually deeper but can be subject to surface water getting into them also. Fertilizer can have a lot of ammonia in it too, also if you're on a...

    Mixing various stones to tumble

Well, you made me look up ammonia in domestic drinking water on Google. Seems ammonia is used in treating water to increase the effectiveness of chlorine that is also used. Now if you are on a well it can also be found in ground water. I would guess the tumbling is releasing it as a gas that...
