    Mystery iron metal disk

Any ideas on this iron metal disk? I would dismiss but the 3 rusty areas on the surface make me think it looped or hooked to a strap or belt perhaps at one time. There is no discernible writing on it.

Dug at an turbine-powered gristmill built in mid 1800s

Hook like structure dug at an turbine-powered gristmill built in mid 1800s. The gristmill remains are intact and made of limestone. It's located on a small river. Perhaps this was a hook to help dock boats? A partial dam is there as well. Any insight?

    Detecting a dirt basement?

Has anyone had any luck detecting a basement of a house where the ground still exposed. I've got an opportunity to detect the basement of a large home built in the 1850's. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with something like that.
