    Vaquero all metal modes

I am not sure that I know the answer- The pinpoint is fast tune all metal with VCO audio. Is the ALL METAL on the disc dial also fast tune all metal, or is it a slow tune mode as I think I read somewhere? Like the Tejon when you use the dial?

    Zinc Park struck again

In my town, there is an old park which is named Zinc Park, and it is a pretty funny thing because I have found a pretty large pile of gold plated zinc costume jewelry there. And of course lots of zincolns. I keep going back because I have also found a fair number of silver jewelry items...

    Tesoro Golden Sabre 2

Hey spice_boat - Used TESORO GOLDEN SABRE 2 - Vintage Clean Working Metal Detector w Instructions just sold for $219.10. With $25 shipping, that seems really high for a fairly old machine like that. I wanted it, but not for that price, would need a lot of clad to catch up on that $245. I...

    Heavily modded compadre

Did anyone notice that apparently very well modified compadre on a certain well-know auction site? It already sold for 199 in a couple of hours. It had a ground balance dial, sensitivity, disc/"coin check" mode toggle, but it looks like it still had a fixed coil. With the ground adjust you...

    Got my new Vaquero

I have been using my Compadre and enjoying it and just enough success to keep it interesting, and then some. So I ordered a new Vaquero. I took it out today, and can see that it takes somewhat more effort to get a handle on than the Compadre, but I made some progress. Found some new, probably...

    Lobo ST

Can anyone advise me, how does the Lobo depth when in discriminate mode compare to the Vaquero? I know that the manual gb is an advantage for the V, but I think I have read that in real use the Lobo still seemed to find small stuff a little deeper than the V even in discriminate mode. Anyone know?

    More Compadre gold

I found a really neat 1920's brooch next to an old house site today. I thought it looked so ugly, and assumed it was brass, I almost tossed it. I cleaned it up at home, and am very glad I kept it. It is heavier than the men's gold ring I found yesterday. It has 4 cool blue stones of some...

found gold and silver today with Compadre

A fairly large mens wedding band, and a womans gold plated silver ring. And .46 in coins (I'm happy to get every dime). I believe that I have been getting the hang of using the Compadre, thanks mainly to reading what has been written on this forum. Found in a heavily used city park in Tulsa.

Good deal on 9 volt batteries

Lowes has their house brand "Utilitech" alkaline 9 volt batteries priced at 12.97 for 12. I suspect that they are probably about the same quality as the big brands. But even if they are not quite as good how could you go wrong (unless they come apart and leak in your machine haha).

    question about compadre

I have learned to calibrate my ear and have gotten better with this compadre, but I continue to have a newbie question. I have been mainly using it at old school properties and old parks, I can recognize scratchy little iron, harsh and loud scraps of aluminum or pull tabs, etc, but there is...

    Silver and copper ore

Hello, I found today an old site that had been reported in some old state record, as having high silver and copper values. It is an outcropping along a dirt road. The site assayed at over 600 + PPM for silver, and the geologist note said "rich in silver". So my young son and I found some small...
