My contribution to celebrate GTI 1500 month...

is a real beauty -- a 1941 D walking liberty half dollar! :wiggle: Went back to my mother-in-laws house last weekend and found the coin within 15 minutes of searching. Read as a 50

Super low tide finds with my SeaHunter II

Went out the last couple days with my SeaHunter II at the local salt water beach to detect at the end of a rock pier. The -3.5+ foot tides of early May and June expose the beach only a few days each in early May and June so I had to get out there ASAP. I wasn't disappointed as I found $2.18...

    Quicker way to switch coils???

Just a thought as I switch coils on my 1500 -- could there be a better way to attach coils to the white plastic shaft of the detector? It's a pretty tedious chore to loosen the screw nut nearest where the cord enters the coil. It would work a lot better if it weren't so close, then you'd have...

Proformance DD coil finds 2 silver dimes

Went hunting with my 1500 and the Proformance DD coil at my mother-in-law's house again last weekend. Spent the first of 2 hours finding nothing but junk so I moved to another spot in the yard and soon after started to find a lot of coins -- 1 nickel, 13 pennies (3 wheaties including a 1910)...

    Found a "peace" of silver!

I've always checked around the corners of old houses for coins as I thought I read once that people used to bury them there for good luck. Never thought I'd find something until I dug up a 1922-D $1 Peace silver dollar on Saturday. I followed along the rock foundation of a house and got a...

Has anyone been watching that new Travel Channel Show?

I was flipping through the channels tonight and I got hooked on watching this new show called "Best Places to Find Cash and Treasure" on the Travel Channel. They've been showing all sorts of treasure & gem hunting that can be done in the US, and every once and a while they show people metal...

Next big coil for 1500 -- PROformance DD or Imaging???

Time to start thinking about getting a large coil for my 1500 so I can search those large areas. Since I live in WA state I search in mineralized soil all the time so the PROformance DD coil might be the wise choice. But would losing the imaging feature found on the 12" imaging coil be that big...

    There's gold in the water!

I dropped my daughter off at preschool early one morning a week ago Wednesday and drove by the local beach and saw that the tide was at zero feet. Daylight low tides are getting rare this time of the year so I rushed home and brought out the Garrett Seahunter II before the tide returned...

    Old key and new coins

Went to my mother-in-laws this weekend and along with the usual nails and junk I found two 1970s era coins and an old Cadillac key. I did a little research and think that the key dates from the late 1930s to mid-1940s. Haven't found the Caddy yet but I'll keep searching!!:detecting: Peter...
