Tesoro Golden µMAX (v2), DD coils and bottle caps

Hi all ! I am entirely satisfied with the Golden, and should want to use both the 5.75 DD and the Ultimate 13 with the unit. I was not able to test one of these coils, so I'm asking here : how do bottle caps audio ID on the Golden with DD coils ? With the two concentrics I have, the sound is...

    Tough choice...

Hi all. I have been very happy with the SH MKII the last years, I use it exclusively on wet salt sand and it has been good to me. I use it on cleaner parts of the wet beaches, for the dirt I prefer to use the Sovie GT. I appreciate the easy settings, the depth (own both coils), and use the...

    Classic III SL (small) problem.

Hi ! Long ago, I swung a "lunchbox" Classic III, which I traded in to help me buy my first XLT. Although I never regretted buying the XLT (one of only two detectors that helped me improve my MD skills), I always missed the III. A few weeks ago, I crossed the path of someone who whished to...

    Just pray this won't happen...

Hi ! Don't know if you guys know about this, but, as we here in Europe do have such coins (and I think Canada does too), be sure that this is no good news for the coin shooters... Cents and Nickels made of steel...? HH Nick

    BHTR nails 3 gold rings.

Hi ! This week-end ended up with three gold (2x14K, 1x18K) rings from the dry sand beach here, found with my Time Ranger. I kind of like this detector, it's ID system is very useful and permits a really selective hunt, without losing too much goodies. HH Nick

    F5 target ID

Hi fellow hunters, I'm a seasoned coin hunter. Being an ex XLT user (killed two of them that found really many many goodies), I am interested in the F5. Gathering some information on the web, I noticed that most videos showed a very jumpy TID reading all the time. I think this is the...

    Old Gold !

Hi all ! Found this 18K wedding bad on a wet sand beach with the Quattro last week...(along with a silver ring).: Then I looked at the engraved wedding year...:surprised: Now, that is my oldest ring to date ! Found after a storm, of course ! HH Nick

    Some beach jewelry...

Hi all using a Sovereign GT with the stock 10" coil, I found those rings and pendant recently. I like to use it with the reverse disc technique I learnt about on this forum. The heavy copper ring was found at a measured 16" with a good signal. HH

    Deep thoughts...

Hi all ! I've been using a Minelab Sovereign GT for 5 months now, mainly in the "reverse disc" mode, to my entire satisfacton; Searching in all metal (pinpoint) gives great depth, but the gold rings I find are a bit...uh...light . Mostly wedding bands. I was thinking of more depth, an option...

    Reverse disc pays off !!

Hi all Complaining about the poor performance of the all metal mode of the Sov in another thread, I was advised by Oldbeechnut to try the reverse disc, that means searching in P/P mode, and checking in disc. Waow ! what a difference. Once the threshold is stable, you get no falsing, no masking...

All metal : is it me?

Hi all. I got myself a nearly new GT one month ago. I love the unit and found already keepers with it, two gold rings, silver, etc. I find it different (of course) and better (my humble opinion) than the Quattro (collecting dust ever since : will be a good backup). Being a veteran Ther, I...

    Compadre with 8" coil.

Finally got a Compadre with the brown 8" coil. Can't wait to test it this week end, but I am already impressed by the depth achieved by this little machine. It air tests 9" on some large euro coins with a good, audible signal. Seems to be excellent for thin jewellery I could only find with...

Will 11" PRO COIL work with the Quattro?

Seems to be lighter and deeper. HH nick

I do not like colored detectors !

What about you, guys. I don't like them. ! Yellow, green, blue, red, beige. IMHO, detectors are scientific instruments, no toys ! Black and grey seems more acceptable to me, as they involve discretion. So, do you agree with this?? Or just not...

    Speaking about gold rings...

Just found this one with my Quattro. Waow, that gives some kick !! Was about 9/10" deep in the wet sand. Signal +21. I might be wrong, but I noticed some increase of my results by using the "relics" preset instead of the all metal one. I also find ferrous alloys to read positive on the wet...

    Just ordered a special detector...

Hi Everybody! I've been thinking for months of buying a Tesoro Compadre, especially after reading Mr Tabdog's tot lot adventures on this forum. Being a slow decider, when I finally ordered it from my local dealer, I was told they ran out of compadres AND silvers till the beginning of next...

Celtic coin hoard found in The Netherlands

Hi everybody. Just wanted to post this link about a 109 Celtic coins hoard that was found in Europe. The finder got just a few coins, which aroused the suspicion of the archaeological services who started working the site and found the rest of the coins. Some early press reports show a...

    Another "Q" gold find...

Yup ! Found this gold ring on the beach today, reading +10 on my display. Found a nice cross-pendant too. I begin (after 5 months) to develop some very good affinities with the Q, pity it's so heavy. Nick.
