Nickels and Dimes = Silver !!

Set out to find some gold today. Set the Ace350 to detect only Nickels, Dimes and Quarters. I think I set a record for the number of nickels dug in the dirt. Did manage a silver Santa Claus, a 1939 Mercury dime and a 1930 Wheat Penny.. Unfortunately no gold. Oh well, theres always another day...

    Almost, but not quite.

Beautiful weather, so decided to hit my old school again and a few neighbor's yards. Even though I found six Wheat Pennies, no silver coins. Did find a silver plated Hickok belt buckle though. Sure had plenty of variety. The bracelet was an odd find. Just plain old copper. Have to go back...

    ACE350 finds Silver AGAIN!!

Got out for a short one hour hunt after supper. Went up to my old school that I hit whenever I don't have much time to detect. Couldn't believe my luck!! Another Silver Quarter. This time 1941. This is two Quarters from that site in a week. This place has been pounded to death over the years...

    ACE350 comes through again!!

Decided to detect a little bit before lunch. It looked like it was going to rain any minute, so headed to the old school up the street. First coin turned out to be the 1944 Quarter. What a way to start out!! Then I found a metal folding case of some kind. Am going to soak the hinges with WD40...

    ACE350 is golden AGAIN!!

Got in a day of hunting today. Decided to hunt again by discriminating out everything but Nickel. I new I was in for a long day digging tab tops and "can slaw". I wasn't disappointed (there was plenty of both), but the ACE came through again with some GOLD!! Nice old 10k gold ring weighing 14g...

    Fun day and battery money

One of those days where I just had to get out with the trusty ACE350. Started off with a couple of local tot lots. Those finds are at the top of the picture. Then decided to hit a school only hunting Nickels and Dimes. Love the ability to notch everything else out. Found right many nickels again...

    Nickel and Dimmed them today!!

Got out before it got too hot and hunted my favorite school grounds again. Set up the ACE350 to accept Nickel and Dime. Love being able to notch out anything you don't want. No gold this time, but did score a Buffalo Nickel. Here is this mornings finds.

ACE350 finds silver and gold today!!

Had a chance to get out after lunch today, so headed to (guess where) my old school grounds again. I just can't seem to give up on it. Glad I decided to hit it again. Not a lot of targets left, but managed my first silver with the Ace350 and another piece of gold. So far I am batting 500 on the...

    This was a Golden birthday!!

Today turned out to be one of those perfect birthdays. Went to my grandson's Pinewood Derby competition. My ex-wife and her husband took my wife and I out to lunch at Cracker Barrel. Had a great time. When I got back home I told my wife I was going out detecting for a few hours to work off the...

    Gave the ACE350 another workout.

Weather was perfect, so had to get out for some quality hunting time. I am realizing that this dirt digging is getting harder on my back with each passing year. Had to quit after three hours of digging. Seems like the more I hunt, the more trash I get. At least I got the fresh air and exercise...

    Ace350 goes back to 1896

Had a little over an hour to hunt after lunch, so headed back to my old school hunting grounds. Not much left to find, but plenty of trash. Decided to stick with it just to see what might be among the trash items. Did manage a toasted 1896 Mexican coin and an old latch plate. I know there is...

    Experimenting with the ACE350

Still getting used to my new ACE350, so headed out this afternoon for a couple of hours hunting time. Went to the same park where I found the gold ring. Started out hunting in coin mode, but mainly found newer clad. Decided to try hunting with everything notched out except nickels. Never had a...

Second Hunt with ACE350 finds GOLD!!!

Weather was so nice I decided to get in a hunt after lunch at my neighborhood park. Wasn't expecting much, because of all the hunting pressure it gets. I have taken several of my detecting friends to it and we find an occasional piece of silver. I had only hunted with the Ace350 once before at...

    Civil War Marine Button

Got a chance to hunt an old house on Main St. in Suffolk. Figured it had been hunted before, but wasn't about to give up the chance to hunt it. Since it was close to Riddick's Folly, I knew it had potential. I was right. Found one Civil War era button. Also found a token. Needless to say there...

    Unexpected Button Finds

There was a local bar in the city where I live that burnt down. They bull dozed the lot. I have been wanting to hunt it, but there were "No Trespassing" signs everywhere. I happened to see someone getting ready to cut the grass, so went over to talk with them. It turned out to be the owner. I...

    Unusual Night At The Beach

Went to Virginia Beach last night to escape the heat. Had some really surprising coin finds along with the usual clad. The 1964 nickel looks like new. The Canada dime looks almost proof like and the 1919 penny was a real shocker!! Here is my loot for the evening.

    6/13 After Supper Beach Hunt

Weather man said no thunderstorms this evening, so I headed out to Virginia Beach. Weather was muggy as heck. First time I broke out in a sweat night hunting at the beach. High tide, so I hit the dry sand. Things are still kind of slow, but my new Detector Pro still seems to be doing pretty...

    6/8 Beach Hunt

Finally got a chance to go to Virginia Beach to check out my new (to me) Detector Pro Diver. Was the wrong time to catch the tide, so had to settle for the dry sand. I think I am going to like it once I get used to the sounds. It was stable at almost max. sensitivity in the wet sand. No jewelry...

    5/13 After Supper "Cherry Picking"

Was planning to go to the beach tonight, but the weather was a little chilly, so decided to hunt my local school yard instead. Boy was I glad I did!! Didn't have much time, so I set the discrimination on my Classic to Max. and started swinging. Covering as much ground as I could and digging only...

Another great day with silver and a friend !!

Got a call from Jack (jewaugh) wanting to know if I wanted to ride with him to hunt an old farm in Chesapeake. As you can imagine, I said yes and asked him where to meet. He said he would come by and pick me up. We got to the farm and introduced ourselves to the owner. He said to help...
