Does the "V" detect deep targets?

Great Depth that's for sure. Which coil were you using Neil?

What is the most important thing to know for the beginner first time out.

Read the instruction manual that came with the detector and when your finished reading it, read it again. Watch the DVD that came with the detector several times as well. Start simple, use the stock programs and make adjustments as necessary. The V3/V3i can be a little overwhelming, but have...

    v3i/garrett pro pointer compatibility?

I'm not sure if it would work but how about frequency offset, think that may help?

    A word to the wise...

Yep, been there, done that one too. I put a tall mans lower rod on my coil to get it away from my steel toed boots because of that same reason. Weekends I'll wear tennis shoes, on the way home from work I just don't take the time to changs shoes.

Anyone try the Whites super 12 coil

I just got 1 about 3 weeks ago and have not had the time to "Really" get out with it. Just playing around with it in the yard here in South Alabama seems to do fine. I purchased it to use on the beach but if all goes well this comming weekend I'll give her a whirl. I will say that I'm glad I...

Starting to get fed up with V3i.... when on beach

Just a thought since it could be a moisture problem, Try one of those Silica Gel Bags an put in your box cover to suck up the moisture. Couldn't hurt anything that's for sure.

    Moon Phase

I wonder if the phase of the moon has any effect on detecting? Like during a full moon the moisture content of the ground is more than during a quarter moon.

Starting to get fed up with V3i.... when on beach

My question was the same as above about the coil cover. I had a problem which I thought was EMI and it may have been at home but when I got to the beach (Pensacola to be exact) I had the same issues. I removed the coil cover just to see and the problem was solved. I don't know why, I know it...

    New V3i today...

1 thing that will help you with you learning curve (or at least it did for me) is the little 4x6 coil. After spending the money for the V3i the last thing you want to hear is that. I had an Old Fellow tell me that "Work is made for a mule and he turns his butt to it". So turn your butt to it...

1st time out with the V3i

What would really help you would be the little 4"x6" coil. Not only would it be great for the "Trashy Areas" it also helps in the learning curve, or for me it did.

1st time out with the V3i

Did you try the "High Trash" program? Sounds like some areas I've been in and I use it from time to time.

    Toggle Issue.

I saw on Whites web site where you could buy a replacement toggle switch for the V3i, I guess that means it may be user replaced without sending the machine in? Unless its under warranty. Sounds to me it is dirty and you may could use a can of air like you buy at Wal-Mart in the electronics...

    WOW,took a V3i out on test run

My own opinion is get the 6 x 10 coil. I have had a heck of a time with my 10" coil, purchased the 4 x 6 which is a great little coil but my favorate is the 6 x 10. Try one out if you can I think you may be impressed.

Today at the beach, and a change in luck.. + Cleaning Help..

I use a tumbler with stainless steel shot and water with a couple of drops of dawn dish washing liquid, I'm pretty sure it would polish up that ring. Great finds!!
