Found lots of shiny stuff today (lots of pics)

I spent 6.5 hours hunting around an 1879 vintage home today. I've hunted it one other time finding 2 silvers and a gold ring besides lots of wheats. I've had a few other dissapointing hunts lately so I was overdue for this one. After I had found 2 silvers, I decided it might be a good day and...

Seated and LC - Woohoo! :super:

Got out ot an 1884 vintage home today but the owners say that there were 2 log cabins there prior to the house. Supposedly this site was also used as a stagecoach stop. I found an 1882 IH and before I closed the hole, I decided to sweep the hole with my Sunray probe and got a hit in the side. I...

    Depth reading question

I tried to use the depth gauge on my EXII to figure out how deep my targets were but it never seemed to be very accurate. I'm used to my 3D and it is accurate down to 7" depth on a coin. What should I be doing to get an accurate depth reading. Remember, I only have about 9 hrs on the machine so...

1st day out with my Explorer

I just recently purchased a used EXP II. I have been using a CZ-3D for the last 2 yrs. I have been reading a lot on here and the Classroom forum to learn how to use it. Thanks to all for the tips. It is definitely different than my 3D. I am glad I learned the 3D 1st. It is much simpler. Much of...

3D sniffs out a little silver and some other cool items

I got out for 2.5 hrs today around a pre-civil war era house. I only covered a small part of the yard. Hopefully more items to come. I'm going to put in around 8 hrs tomorrow around another old house if the rain holds off. If you can't read it, the badge shaped item says "Souvenir" at the top...

    What are the chances??

That you find 2 silver coins on 2 consecutive trips and they are the same dates. The Barber dime is a 1909-O, the O is the only difference. The Merc is a 1920, same as last time. Also found a silver ring and 2 IHs (1900,1905). I also found 12 wheats, teens and 20s. I was hunting a large...

65 degree day produces silver and injuns

It was an awful nice day especially for January, so I took the day off from work and took the 3D to my new site. An 1886 home. I spent 8 hours and came out with 22 wheat pennies, 4 IHs (1889,1891,1898,1898) , a 1909 Barber dime, and a 1920 Merc. Not a bad day after all. 3 of the 4 IHs...

Got hopes up for new site...only to be let down again.

Got permission on an empty lot that has hosted a church that got turned into a dance hall then later a bar. The other side of the lot had a carousel on it. None of this stuff existed after about 1975. I put 3hrs in on it yesterday with dreams of numerous silver roosies and mercs dancing in my...

    Gouged a Barber tonight :rage:

Got back to my favorite haunt tonight for another hour and a half. Took 4 IHs (1893,97,99, no date), a 1903 V-nickel, 1920 wheat and the 1906 Barber dime. It's in great shape except for the upper left part where I must've scraped it with my digger  Oh Well, it's better than not having found...

Pic of the 1870 Shield Nickel

Here's a pic of the Shield nickel I found the other day. I cleaned it but it's still rough. <IMG SRC="http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL988/3583510/7374470/104758816.jpg"> It takes a bit of magnification to read the date.

Got my 1st Shield nickel! :jump:

I finally went back and re-hunted a site. :) I almost never do that. I usually just get permission on another site. This site is the best I've ever been on. Last spring, it produced 28 IHs, 14 silver (8 of which were Barbers) and gobs of wheats. Well, I only got an hour and a half on it last...

PA Boy goes to West Virginia for a hunt

Most of you have seen Bill W and myself post on here. We both own 3D's. Bill also owns an Explorer. We have been coversing via email for a while and finally got to hunt together. Bill came to WV and we hunted 3 pre-1900 houses on Friday and an empty pre-1850 lot on Saturday. We put in 9 hrs on...

Speak of the devil...orrr... buffalo nickel...

I just found my 1st buff of the year today. It was a no-date. It's pretty cruddy. I've got it soaking in lemon juice but I don't think I'll get a date off of it. Matter of fact, it was my only coin in 3 hrs today. It bounced from nickel to round pull-tab in enhanced mode. I put the 3D in salt...

5" coil pulls some goodies from an iron infested yard including a twopence!

WOW :yikes Another first for me today. I spent 4 hrs across the road from where I found a seated half dime and a large cent 2 weeks ago. I pulled my 1st 2 cent piece, an 1865. I also got an 1899 Barber dime, a 1962 Roosie and a few wheats. <IMG...
