It's gonna be a good day......

at least for me, perhaps not so much for those around me :surrender: Got a big pot of ham and beans cookin' on the wood stove for this afternoon. Cornbread (cooked in the wood stove's oven), fried 'taters, and tons of raw onions will complete the meal. Smitty

    Took the DeLeon out today..

And wished I had made some good finds to post. We hunted an old store (early 1900) which is now a residence, and thought there was a Saloon nearby, but may have been incorrect. Regardless, neither of us found anything (though I did dig a couple old mason jar lids with the porcelain lids). Then...

    4" or 5.75" for DeLeon?

Since I've been soooo good this year , I may get myself a smaller coil for the new DeLeon for Christmas. Other than physical size, is there any difference between the two? Or does anyone have a preference between the two? Seems like I hear (read) more talk of the 5.75" over the 4". Smitty

I fail at coin pics :help:

Let me begin by saying I have an HP Photosmart 320, 2.1MP, 4X Digital Zoom. Now let me follow by saying I have no idea what any of that means. This camera is maybe 10 years old? And does take (what I consider to be) pretty good pics of larger targets (landscape, people, etc.). Most of the pics...

    How low will you go..........

When it comes to outside temperature and detecting? I honestly can't answer.....it'll depend on how the bones feel. Smitty

School me on iron and Tesoros :help:

New owner of a DeLeon, hunted with it once (yesterday at 3 different locations). I'm not displeased at this point, just trying to learn. I'd ran in both AM (light hum on threshold, disc from 4-7 at times) as well as in Discrimination Mode (both super-tuned, an experimented with both threshold &...

    My Modified Tile Spade

Not some engineering breakthrough, just a cheap manner in which to make MDing a bit more enjoyable. :detecting: If I'm hunting a location where neatness isn't an issue (like crop fields), I like to use a larger shovel. This allows me a bit more wiggle room to prevent damaging a find (as opposed...

Todays meager finds with De Leon

Hunted the farm I'd been waiting for all week, but it didn't live-up to my hopes. But, I did get some swing-time in with the new Tesoro, so that was good. I was hunting with a friend using a Whites, and is proficient with it, yet lacked in the finds department as well, so it wasn't just me. All...

    "Finds"...........

Where do you post them? I mean, I see them in the dedicated brand boards, here, the MD board, the View....where's the "best" place  I really enjoy looking at others finds, but not enough to sift through most every board on the site in an effort to do so. Do you post the same finds in 2-3...

    Tesoro and Nickles........

Are they "as one" with these machines, touch & go.....or ? I've yet to dig a V or Buff.....but want to badly (though not badly enough to dig tons of trash to do so :surrender:). My current detector is not known for being Nickle Magnet......... Give me your impressions/experiences with Nickles...

Anyone add O-rings under their control knobs?

I don't recall reading this here, so maybe it's been discussed before? But I'd read mention of the control knobs being easily bumped out of adjustment, and by removing the knobs, and sliding a (1/4" ID) rubber O-ring over the control stems, and reinstalling the knobs will add a bit of friction...

    A new Tesoro owner...

...well, soon to be, just got done ordering a De Leon  Been detecting for 4-5 years, and as you might notice in my sig, my 1st MD was the 250, and recently purchased the 350 because I wanted a back-up/loaner. I've had that little voice in my head that's been whispering "Tesoro" for a...

    An uncleaned find.....cleaned

I dug this a couple weeks ago, nearly tossed it as I thought it was just an old stamped decorative piece of metal for something, a light fixture maybe? It had been laying on the heater box in the bus next to the steps, and today I thought it was time to pitch it, not even sure why I'd kept it...

Ace 250 vs 350 and coil swap air tests

My 250 has the stock 6.5"X9" coil, and the new 350 the DD coil. Both detectors were assembled the same by having the cable wire-tied straight-up the lower stem, then wrapping the upper stem before making the connection at the housing. Both detectors with fresh batteries, All Metal mode, and 4...

Todays hunt provided few coins, but lots of relics

Went back to the site of a farm house that provided silver as well as several wheaties. The beans were picked around the area where the house sat (still in grass), so I was sure I'd find several more coins since yards generally shrink over the years as crop slowly encroaches into the sod. Well...
