new 950 v rated coil for my V3i, love it. 1944 dime first 10 minutes

The question between the spider coil and the 950 is all about stability of the coil windings. The 950 is fully encased (why it is not repairable) and the spider has the support "web" (hence the lighter weight). Don't have the spider coil but in my opinion the spider may be more prone drifting...

    Question & Finds

I think you are confusing your SAT (self adjusting threshold) which is used only in all metal mode and has an adjustable fade rate. Your recovery delay is a disc function. Lay some targets on the ground a coils width apart and go over them at your normal sweep speed and adjust your recovery...

Congrats on the find. I want to find one!

    Found first 50 cent piece.

Nice work. I have about the same number of hours on the V3i. You can set that baby up to emulate just about any detector out there.

    Yesterdays finds

Got out yesterday with the V3i for 4 hrs. Found the 62 quarter and merc near where I found the seated dime last week. I have to admit I was cherry picking a bit. I live in NH and the park was in Mass and school is out for the week there so the park was busy. Not used to that as I work a 36...

    anything better than 10x12 coil?

Oops the hyperlink for where you could order the connector didn't take. You could probably order it here: www.digikey.com

    anything better than 10x12 coil?

Google switchcraft , the manufacturer and look thru their catalog. They usually have pictures of the parts. Find the part number and you could probably order it from here:. I work in test engineering and have repaired more cables than I care to think about and if it's a cable problem the...

    anything better than 10x12 coil?

Hi Bill_S, something doesn't look right with the wiring on that switchcraft connector. It looks like the wires may be shielded and the shielding is wrapped around the center conductor shorting it out. Since there are two coils there should be at least three connections on that connector...

First time out yields 1890 seated dime

Ok Rob, trying to post a pic. Not really into phtog but know you wanted more postings. This coin had no right to be where it was. I figure it was a survivor of re-grading and bulldozing, but I'll take it. Thanks for your links they were great in helping me doing research on the V3i. And...

First time out yields 1890 seated dime

I posted a few weeks ago about buying a V3i and wanted to post my findings. I'm transitioning from an XL Pro to the V3i so I've had to adapt my hunting style from an analog signal processing to a digital signal processing machine and getting used to "D" type coils. So far I'm really...

    moving from XL-Pro to V3i

Hi all; Been lurking on the V3i site for awhile now. I've only posted a few times on the vintage section of this forum. I'll be buying a new V3i in the next couple of days and making a few calls to dealers to see what kind of deals I can make (yes I'll be calling the advertisers on this site...

Think a third grader can handle an F2?

Bought an F2 for my grandson. It came down to the Ace250 or the F2 and had decided on the F2. Got a good deal on EBay - 8 and 4 inch coils- headphones and free shipping. Do you FIsher guys think a third grader can handle it? I know he will be pysched and it will be fun taking him out detecting.

    Snatched up an XL Pro

Been wanting to pick one of these up since I got back into metal detecting. Been looking at the prices on Ebay and the prices on the 6000's and Xl pro's have been through the roof. I think that says alot about these detectors. So far I'm really liking this machine. Took a couple hours to get...

Idea I'm going to try on a Whites 6000 di series 3

Hi all, this is my first post on the forum. First a little about myself. I built my first detector from an article in Radio and Electronics back in the early 80's. That little TR machine found some nice silver coins and rings! I'm an electrical engineer so I also had fun analyzing the signals...
