Tough hunting on the Gulf Coast

This time of the year you have to hunt differently. Not nearly as many people willing to get into 60 degree water. So you have to do the dry sand more. Something i dont do a lot of now days even in the winter. In the water you have to keep that coil on the bottom and find the low areas or...

A Hypothetical Treasure Recovery on the Beach

Let me see .... she was hunting in an area she knew was illegal...... then she attempts to defraud the government..... and make gain from that by pretending she dug them to put on her channel. Shes not doing much for this hobby .... thats my opinion. Honesty might net her less cash...... but...

    Making Preparations For Getting UnderWay

Can anyone help recommend a scoop for beach hunting for me?

StarvR is a reasonably priced scope $140. Then put a $15 fiberglass shovel handle on it. Get one with a point so it don’t roll on you in the water. If you are just dry sand hunting they have pretty cheap one. Depends on …. Where you use it(dry, wet, or in the water) also the type of material...

Today's Best out of the Box water machines vs the Super Modified

I’ve still got my fingers crossed that the production model of the Fisher AQ PI will be digital. Getting away from old school knobs could fix some of the issues. The MDT seems to be an upgrade IN the water over VLFs. Salt balancing makes a difference and IMO should be on any machine in the...

    Question about beach finds

It’s been my experience….. when the police or park managers or DNR get a complaint from someone it seems easier to tell us no than tell them we are in the right. Now Fls has more no trespassing sings on the beaches all the way to water with some craziness that’s got home owners drawing a line...

    Lines in the Sand

Ya we get a bum rap compared to most trashy beach goers. Who dig man holes, Berry cans, pop their tops and leave anything they are to lazy to take to a trash can. Gridding don’t upset me in the least. We all can be a little Karen about our hunting areas that we want to protect

    SABASO Water shoe review

I’m still partial to 6.5 mm Mares hard bottom dive boots with zipper. The bottom don’t wear from the scoop, don’t smell over time, and tight enough to keep shells out…. Easy on and off.

    Question about beach finds

You can be charged with anything...... but theft requires that you KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN it was stolen. Many states do have laws about found property...... even laws about anything over certain age. One reason why posting very expensive finds has a down side. Those officers didnt use the...

$1000 fine for going to the beach...

Our beaches here in the Gulf were closed about 3 mos. open every sense. I don’t think our numbers are any worse than any other states. Some countries seems to prove putting us on lock down doesn’t seem to do anything. It’s going away at its own pace. The CDC changes its mind almost daily...

Who makes the best Carbon-Fiber shaft for sand scoops????

I’ve heard no one complaining about any certain company.... it’s important to know the ID of your handle hole thou most I’m sure know based on the type of scoop you have. I think it comes down to price

    New saltwater Detector

Example of depth...... we did test near the salt water with both the Nox and Xcal on a 3 gram ring with water in the hole. The Nox would hit that ring at about 12" the MDT 14". IN THE WATER.... the Nox hit it at 10" but the MDT was still about 14". Learning curve .... yes its a little tricky...

    New saltwater Detector

The MDT is. Single freq machine... yes single freq. it has 4 freq and can salt balance the salt water. What that means... you get all out the same depth in the water as out. It’s better build IMO than both the Xcal and Nox. Uses 1 lith battery you can find easily on line for about $6. Now...

You can't make this up. (Infinium Find )

You get some surprises here in Fl......... me and a hunting buddy was hitting a beach in the water last week and he pulled out what he thought was a foreign coin. BUT.... it ended up being a V nickel. Congrats on the BIG silver.

    Tarsacci MDT hunt

I was hunting yesterday with the MDT..... not everyday is a GOOD day. I hit the first chain ..... clearly marked 14K on the hasp..... 21" long...... 22 grams....... it looked good on the stone for color....but wouldnt acid test beyond 10K... it also read 1 on a Nox. First thought maybe it just...

    MDT and iron

Not much out there today at first. Ended up digging 4 pairs of sun glasses, 4 junk rings, 2 necklaces junk, and a couple bucks worth of change..... and the normal can slaw. Ive started checking some of the iron readings on the MDT...... this one came in around -10 and was a pretty large...
