Hell yeah. I know all the areas I played in as a youth. Wish I could go back there now. Prolly lots of good finds there.

    Saturday in the park..

Nice finds. I usually only find clad at the park in my town. No bling lost there. 🙁

    Newer Metal Detectors

If the update makes it worse, most manufacturers allow you to roll it back to the previous version. Last update to Deus 2 and the Apex made them both perform much better than before.

I think I finally found it! Nokta Double Score

Congrats on your new purchases, Treasurechic. I agree, in that sometimes simpler is better, and sometimes all you need for your hunt. I use a D2-9” and an Apex and have good success with both. Light weight and less fatigue to my old body are key for me. Sometimes, the Apex is all I need...

    Possible hint of new Garrett?

Sure looks like it. 😎 Posted on Facebook a couple of days ago. I’m guessing April 1st. reveal.

First time out with the Apex

I agree with Orion42 re: big iron; definite possibility. A probe would help. Whenever I have found targets like these with the Apex, it's usually some large iron object, like a plow point or sickle bar mower blade or even an (old) wagon hub ring. You are in MI, I'm in OH. Sometimes, on some...

First time out with the Apex

What mode are you hunting in, coins, zero, custom, etc.? MF mode or single frequency mode? Iron audio on?

which has been your favorite garrett?

Started with a Freedom II+ back in the 1980s, then moved on to a GTA-1000, GTI-2500, and now an Apex. The ‘2500 was pretty neat with the imaging, but at my age was like swinging a brick on a stick. I like the Apex b/c of its light weight, rechargeable LiPo battery and wireless headphones.

Pulled the trigger on a XP Deus 2

D2-9” is top notch. You will really enjoy it. My first accessory was an MI-6 PP so I could link it to the detector and hear it thru the headphones. Enjoy!

Can Garrett Detectors even COMPETE with the Latest & Greatest?????

Garrett usually makes detectors that are fun and easy to use. Garrett sells what people still want to buy. The Ace lineup detectors are good beginner machines. I had a GTI2500 from about 20 years ago and sold it. It was difficult to use in a trashy park, and too heavy for me to swing...

so many nokta machines in short space of time!!!

Because they can. Take a Legend, strip out some of the adjustments and performance, a little different graphic overlay and number of keys in the keyboard and voila, a double Score. Strip out a bit more and voila, Score. Similar path to what ML has done with the Exterra Pro. I’m surprised...

Show some of your best dug coin finds.

That’s an awesome collection of fine historical pieces, Mark kus. They are in great shape. I keep hunting and hoping…

    Lawn mower dinged/cut coins

About 2yrs ago I dug up a large cent less than 10 ft. from a well casing on a permission where an old house once stood. Sadly, the coin had been hit with a mower chopping off the date. The coin was in good shape otherwise. I hav scoured that sight to find the cutoff section, but haven’t found it...

    Old friend coming back

Fall of 2019. Worked flawlessly after that rebuild. I’ve since sold the machine as my arm and shoulder could not take swinging the weight of it any more.

Old yacht club gives up lots of old silver coins!

Way to go, Mark kus. What a haul of amazing history. Your research paid off. 😁

So who is buying all these detectors ?

I’m thinking the exact same thing, cashless. Went to a park recently after the festival where there were all sorts of vendors booths. Not much to be found. What little found was deep enough in the turf/soil that it had been dropped in some previous year. Rides take “tickets” or bracelets now...
