    GH Phillips and Company

    Found a steel frame, most likely from a stove, near a cellar hole. It’s stamped with GH Phillips and Co, Troy, NY. The limited information I could find was they were in business, late 1800’sure but not much else. Would anyone be familiar with their products/business?

    Tempted to say it’s a trigger guard but doesn’t seem like it is

    Along an old 1700’s cellar hole of which I found an 1808 Springfield musket trigger guard, I found this smaller shaped item that just doesn’t seem to be curved enough in the trigger region to be another guard off a musket/rifle.     Was digging around a dump site from an old farm and next to an old 1930 license plate, I found this “ornament”. It was next to perhaps another large piece of metal, old farm implement? Any thoughts what this might be?
