    Excalibur for finding black sand

I reluctant to take a non water detector in the water. When the water is deep, it is totally out of the question anyway. I have an Excalibur and I was wondering if anyone here has ever used it to detect black sand in the streams. If so, what was you listening for and what setting were you using...

Has anyone used the new Excal II yet?

I am really wanting to know if there are any technical improvements that affect performance. I am not talking about not having a straight shaft, but mainly does the electronics perform better? Better meaning more stable or better depth, etc. Are there any other intangibles that just make you...

Had a scare - this forum is now at a different location

On the Index it is further down and I thought for a minute it was gone. I'm sure glad it isn't.

(OT) Bought my 2nd Excalibur (very long and very sad) :usaa:

Early in 2000 I bought my first metal detector since the early 70's. At the same time I was getting to know an older gentleman from my Church named Floyd Purchase. I also discovered that he loved metal detecting and had been doing it for 30 years. He gave me a few tips on where to hunt, but I...

    This weeks finds :cam:

I decided to only post once a week instead of every trip. I have now had a few trips where I didn't find a ring or gold, but all in all things are still pretty good. The lake water has warmed up around here and things aren't falling off fingers like early in the season. I was still able to find...

    Finding chains and bracelets

As far as I know, I have not heard my first chain or bracelet. Someone told me that my Excal will not get them. Do I need a pulse unit or to hunt in "all metal" in order to find them? How do you pros find them? Thanks, Alton

The F75 is sensitive to small jewelry!

I was in the lake detecting this morning (Excalibur) this morning to no avail and decided to get out and try my luck in the volley ball sand lot with the F75. I'm pretty sure it had already been cleaned out as I only found one coin. However, I found a pretty small toe ring and a very tiny...

    Love and Religion

I found my 12th ring in the last 11 days. The thing that surprised me about today is that it was a very short hunt with only 8 targets. Out of the 8 at least 2 of them were Gold and ice. The love pendant I'm doubting. It didn't have any markings (I need a diamond tester). The other 5 targets...

    Remember Me?

About two months ago I was asking quite a few questions on this forum when I was agonizing over whether the Excalibur would be the water machine for me or not. I had it a few weeks before I was able to make a trip to Florida for one week. For my first week I found one gold pendant. Not much by...

Oh Elizabeth - This is the BIG one! (First Diamonds)

Today I found my 9th ring, and my 3rd gold one, and my first one with diamonds. There are 13 diamonds in all. Six on each side and the big one on top. It is 14K White gold. I was frustrated the first half of the day and was having trouble just finding a place that allowed me to metal detect and...
