    odd buckle ??

    anyone have any ideas on what this may have been used for it is brass that was silver gilted on the front , its 2 1/2 inches long by 1 5/8 inches wide. thanks Dan

    found this yesterday at an old cellar site , this particular site has given up military buttons from 1830's to the civil war era but i am unable to i.d. this piece any ideas as to what it might be and when it may have been in use . the back has three button like eye loops and i'm not sure how...
