V3/V3i Modification - Use Any Set Of Headphones With The Wireless Functions

Disclaimer: If your not sure of exactly what your doing. Do not attempt this mod. I am not responsible for anything that results from this post. Dismantling your $200 White's wireless headphones will void your warranty, and potentially make White's mad at you if you blow them up, and try to...

    V3i Features

I would change the 22.5kHz frequency to somewhere in the 15kHz range. It would be a Coin shooters dream!

    Modulation

Good info Rob, and I agree Larry, the 3 frequency pinpoint features of the V3/V3i are unmatched at this point.

    Modulation

I believe Garrett at one time had a detector that had the ability to discriminate by depth. I think the V3i could even go beyond this ability. It seems like setting up a list of conditional response rules would be a doable thing. Not only by depth, but frequency dominance rules in mixed mode as...

    Modulation

Setting the Modulation setting to ON, and adjusting the range setting properly can have a pronounced effect on quieting the high pitched chirps from deep iron (nail tips) without effecting the full audio response of a coin target. While both a nail tip, and a high conductive target can produce a...

    Black Widows

I have used the Grey Ghost originals for several years now. I have been thinking about the Black Widows lately. My Grey Ghost are getting a little worse for ware. They have been a fantastic set of headphones. Is there a big difference in sound given that they are from the same manufacture? I...

Has anyone tried the new SEF coils for V3i?

I think I am going to order one of the Whites ones. I will give a full report when I get it.

    Recovery delay

It's important to remember that what filter you use also has a lot to do with how fast you sweep. In general the higher the recovery delay (slower) the lower the filter needs to be.

    V3I Deep silver ?

Great information here! Thanks EMS for the theoretical input on the two detectors. One of the most honest threads on this subject I have seen to date. Without a doubt Rob is one of the most knowledgeable V3/V3i users out there. His realist perspective seems to bring the nonsense rants back down...

Is the V3i/Vx3 chatty like Fishers?

Learning to deal with a little noise will benefit you not only in finding deeper targets, but also those targets mixed in with the trash. A quiet smooth running detector in my opinion is a sign that you have it cranked down to much. Listening for consistent response patterns is the key to...

    High Pass Filters

Hey EMS, I am using the High pass 5Hz filter exclusively now, as long as I am not encountering any EMI. In moderate soil I am finding it is slightly more sensitive, and giving more defined responses from deep coins. I am using the analyze mode(trigger forward) as a secondary live screen. I...

V3 depth on silver dimes-which coil do you like?

I have both the D2 and the 10x12 SEF. The SEF goes just a bit deeper, but I prefer the D2. For the very small loss in depth I gain a lot of accuracy in frequency response. I have used the larger SEF for a couple of months and had good results, but it seems a little large for the park...

Weekend Hunt with the V3 - The homecoming

With their brilliant yellow leaves, the thick stands of quakie stood in stark contrast to the spruce and pine. In the shadows the Rocky Mountains, Autumn was revealing itself again in spectacular fashion. As we climbed in elevation a vast landscape of fall colors stretching out for miles...

    Auto Settings

Rob, In regards to the automation of the V3i, one item that would be beneficial to the average user would be dealing with EMI. The only other thing I would like to see is conditional logic settings. An example would be... IF VDI> 70 AND Depth>5 Inches AND Dominent Frequency = 2.5 THEN...
