02/08/2009 - Finally got to hunt!

Finally warmed up enough to get out for a hunt. Was a bit muddy from the thaw .. but take that any day just to get out.

Found a Puerto Rico "Isidro A Sanchez" High School class ring from 2003. It was engraved with a last name. So far web searches have brought
up very little on the school or alumni. Haven't found the name yet in any of the data. I'll keep trying. The ring has an interesting
stone/glass. Depending on the light it's either blue or redish-pink, and there is an "I" in the center behind the stone. The ring isn't
marked, but it didn't ring on the detector as silver. It rang more around the nickel range. The maker's mark is MASTER Qualitum.

Additionally.. found some metal brackets, and old CO2 cartrige, and $2.73 in change ...

I assume you're not hunting in PR if you're talking about a thaw. What state are you in? Take the ring to a jeweler or a pawn shop and ask them to test it for you. Mybe that "I" is actually a "1" and the "0k" or "4k" is missing. You can dream and it looks like gold in one of your pictures. Nice find. Keep us posted.

PS I just noticed the ball inflator which answers my question as to where you found it. Around here, I find so much foreign change form the latino world at soccer fields.

I'm in Central Ohio, just outside Columbus, and found it in a local park. Not near a soccer field, but near a picnic area. Sorry I wasn't clearer, the large "I" can be seen through the stone (like it's etched in the back of the stone), so I'm assuming it stands for "Isidro" (i.e. Isidro Sanchez HS), it wasn't inside the band. I will see if I can get it tested, but I'm pretty sure it's not gold or silver. It looks just like silver, and came out of the ground like silver (no corrosion), but read on my ACE 250 in the nickel range. Which leads me to believe it's not silver. I looked all over the ring, but no hallmark stamps. No matter, it's my 5th ring in three hunts for this year so far. 1 silver, 1 18k gold, and three other.
