06/02 Yard hunting

JJ

Member
I got out for a little late afternoon yard hunting today. I hunted 2 or 3 great looking properties with absolutely nothing to show but clad. On the way home I decided to revisit a large property that has produced in the past. We usually give the property owner the relics that are tied to the history of the place. With little time left before I had to make my way home SKUNKED, I got a deep classic signal that said "dig me". At first I thought it was a rosie and was a little discouraged that something that new was so deep. Then at a second glace I caught the seated outline and proceded to lose my usual cool composure. It turned into more of a fist pumping moonwalk. I didn't know the date until I rinsed it off later and it wasn't a key date but still my first seated anything this year. Thanks, and I hope everyone is getting out to detect. JJ

Nice coin. How deep was it. I'd go back there after a good rain. GOOD FIND.

Thanks for the replies! PM sent DD, we'll head back there after we get some moisture in the ground. JJ

Sweet dig, congrats!

Nice find JJ!! The first time I found a seated it was very shallow because it was on bedrock and only covered by about an inch of soil. Until I cleaned it off I thought the shape under the dirt was the silboat on the back of a Canadian dime!

Thanks for the replies fellas. Bruce, it's took me a while to learn not to rub coins fresh out of the ground. Sometimes it's hard to make out any detail through the crud but I learned it's worth the wait.

Beautiful dime - Those older silver coins have nice big dates rather than tiny ones like Mercs and Rosies. Congrats.
