Got permission to hunt a house today. Cant find any info on age and the owner really had no idea. It sits next to a lot that I noticed for the first time has an ancient set of stairs going up an embankment. Honestly cant say if they were meant to go up to a road or down to a house. Further investigation is required. Now, back to what I started. The area that my V sits in
in the picture is the only area I hunted at this house. Small area, huh? 77 pennys came out of this little area. 1 of them a wheat. I couldnt take any more. There are still signals there, I just couldnt bring myself to keep at it. Maybe if there had been anything bigger than a penny, but not today.

The Vaq really likes pennies

What is the average date of most of the coins? If a lot of them are in the 60's then hopefully there's silver...maybe you have to get through the layers of pennies to get to it, lol

I dont think any of these have been there that long. Most are corroded zincs. All are less than an inch deep. I was hoping that it was somebodys collection that got spilled during a break in. I know that sounds bad, but what the hey! The original owners are long gone. I kept popping them out hoping for something, anything other than another penny.
For whatever reason I just cant get away from pennys. I am starting to get a bit discouraged.

Pennies are just the most common coin to find...just like how you have to dig so many Pulltabs to find gold you have to find many pennies to find silver. You know if its there you'll find it. Your a lot farther along with the V than a couple months ago!

Spirit, the way I was feeling this morning, if I finished that little ditty I would be banned from the forum. Forevahhh!

I'm going to ask the moderator to change my forum name to AbeZincoln. Fitting, wouldn't you say?

I had similar experience. I was hunting a volleyball court. I think someone took handfuls of zinc and coppers and tossed them all over. I stopped after 20 minutes and 50+ coppers. I use the Golden uMax so zincs can stay in the ground. That is one big reason I love the Golden.

Yea, I've been thinking of a golden. It isn't really that I get upset with the Vaquero. It has found me some good stuff, I get more disappointed with the area I live in. The parks and schools have been hit extremely hard in 40+ years, I like to hunt for old coins and there just doesn't seem to be any left, so I get tired and frustrated with zincolns. Lately its like that's all I find. The past 3 weeks or so anyway.
